Is GGG taking the right path? crafting and maps.
The game is balanced around trade. You are SUPPOSED to trade. Not trading for maps is a self-imposed limitation that goes directly against how the game is designed.

Creating a SSF league might have been a bad move on GGG's part. Now there is a whole bunch of people who believe the game should be balanced around SSF which was never and will never be the case.

lets start by saying we dont have a real crafting system becouse even with masters, resonators and what not its still a gamble in most case scenario. this is important becouse it takes away the desire to even try crafting when its much safer to just buy it from someone else and avoid the risk of RNG eating your currency.
hopefully at some point GGG will implement a true crafting system where we could craft an item from scratch, personaly would love if we could get something like median XL honorifics basicaly honorifics items started as lv1 blank items, then there where this orbs that added small bonus like "2% increased DMG when used on a weapon" and each time an orb was aplied to the honorific item this one would gain its mod aswell as increace the base item lv, this alowed a true crafting at the cost of being quite expensive. self found league fan

For trade: The trade you do in the time you're online is enough to pay for your consumption while online. Yes, people who are online more can trade more, but they also farm more and consume more items like maps etc. Playing more doesn't grant a disproportionate advantage in trade. While I have occasionally been advocating for better ingame trade (in moderation), trade as an app is out of the question and would only lead to people making money through trade all day to then play the game as a rich person without bothering. Meanwhile the vast majority of ingame only traders would become poorer by comparison.
Maps: I personally prefer to SSF my map pool for the most part, but I recognise this as my own decision. Even if I don't get the map drop I want, getting around 3 map drops per map is completely normal. Trading them would get me into higher tiers at a significant speed. Yes, some of the environments are similar, but each has their special subtle characteristic. Delve, while it certainly generates infinite content, has much fewer environments and layouts to explore. I don't mind playing the maps becoming more interesting, but it holds several problems. The risks of more complicated mechanics must be matched with higher rewards. Powercreep is a huge problem as it is. To get to level 100 or grind some stuff efficiently, whichever it is, people will still choose risk free content. And lastly, due to the complexity of the game, meta builds will trivialise it either way. Crafting: Delve crafting and proper selection of a crafting base can reduce the eligible mods by 80% in some cases, while providing further mods that used to not be available before and make items even stronger. How anyone can be unsatisfied with this is strange to me. RNG crafting is a core of the game. You want deterministic crafting, go play something else. You can always get your impossible mirror tier items in PoB, but you do not just arbitrarily deserve to have all of them in the game. |

Maps: The more you learn about the game the more easy become to manage maps drop, that was my case. POE is not an "Easy Peasy" game, and I hope it will never be that way.
It's a common knowledge that when you get to T9-T10 you have some sort of problem of sustain maps, because you are reserving your currency to buy items and you have nothing left to buy them. If you want to sustain t16 map and you are complaining about maps drops, there is something wrong.... The only issue I see here is how you have to buy it. Dunno how to fix that, but spamm 50 players/bot to get 1 map is irritating. Craft: Delve gave me the most satisfying exp on crafting. You could really craft some wonderful rare with very little effort. |

" Protip on the trade situation: Stop using poe.trade its pretty garbage for currency/maps nowadays. People can fake their online status and make fake listings via the shop page, so its just a wasteland of scams anymore. The official site is wonderful for both, since they cant fake online status, have to actually have the item to list it, and you can ignore the scammers that are left so their bullshit never comes up again. As for crafting, fossils have changed the game there, beyond just blocking mods, they also change the weighting of the mods pretty substantially. Its why there are so many crazy items this league.
