I don´t understand how to farm specfic maps/red maps, anyone can help?
First thing to say is that I don´t have the option to trade because of SSF. I really hope the next answer from you guys is not "then you are fucked". So long story short I´ve leveled my character to 93 and been pushing into red maps into T13. I have a really hard time progressing further into red maps as well as finding the remaining maps to complete my atlas (currently at 91/156).
How I understood the system is that you run any map and you can drop the connected maps to that map. But when I do that I drop absolutely randomly any kind of map. I have a huge pool of t1-t5 maps because even red maps drop super low level maps. I farmed so many "Geode" to get one "Sepulchure" map but nothing. I farm the tiers before Geode to get more of those, nothing. From just guessing certain maps drop way more often than others, but if that is the case how should I ever spread my elder influence properly if I only have none or 1 of some maps where I have to go? I always alch my maps, look for high quantity. For red maps I use atziri fragments and I vaal them as well but for the last 6 maps I haven´t dropped ANY other map with equal or higher level. I just run out of map pool and have to start at T6 or so to build them up again. Also it seems that any high maps can drop any low tier maps but no low tier map can drop any map higher than +1 or +2 tiers to the map level you run -.- I just don´t understand why this has to be so complicated xD I feel like I´m to dumb to play that game. Man I just want to run some maps in the evening. Any tips are highly appreciated.. Last bumped on Sep 25, 2018, 6:17:47 AM

Sounds like you do not know about the "3 for 1" recipe for maps.
3 of the same map, no matter if they are white, rare or corrupted will give you 1 higher tier map connected to it. Leveling Zana helps, too. But what i also do in SSF is, i don't start red maps before i completed all white and (almost) all yellow ones to get at least the 100% bonus on mapdrops. |

I know of the 3 for 1 recipe but this is mostly only useful to unlock the maps on your atlas. The same goes for the "reforges a map to the same tier but different map" zana mod (been using this mostly to get other maps unlocked).
I do my Zana daily (lvl6 atm) and I buy all maps from her regularly what I need but still. I only want to farm specific maps for div cards but how is it possible to constantly drop "toxic sewer" maps in higher amounts? Also the % unlock for the atlas is 91 atm for me. Is this the % chance to drop any map or just to upgrade a map in tier IF a map drops? I just wish the boss of that map would always drop that specific map again. So you can run that map unlimited -.- why would that be an issue, I don´t understand why it has to be so complicated. |

I have kind of the same problem in SSF.
Since im in the Maps i Stuck with Zana Mission to unlock Shaper and Elder Influence. I still need to run Ancient City to unlock Shaper but it didn't drop. Strand maps didnt drop either so i cant trade them for +1 Tier... It feels really weird to me.... |

It´s actually a very complicated system, one I don´t fully understand either.
I remember how it is when you need a Tier 4 and you run the Tier 3 in front of it 20 times and nothing drops. It seems so wrong... At the same time, I am running a Tier 10 and it drops Beach or Strand, instead of the next map on the road. A tutorial would be great, because the obviously stated rules don´t seem to work anymore. |

It is not complicated at all. The rules for dropping maps are quite simple in fact. The following maps can drop inside of a map:
↬ Any map you have completed on the Atlas (does not have to be bonus completion, just killing the boss is enough). ↬ Any map connected to the map you are currently running via a path on the Atlas. ↬ Any Unique map. (Besides drop-restricted ones such as Vinktar Square.) ↬ Any Tier 1 map. In addition to that: ↬ Normal (white) monsters can only ever drop maps of the same tier or lower than the map you are running. ↬ Magic (blue/purple) monsters can only drop maps up to one tier higher. ↬ Rare (yellow) and unique (map bosses) monsters can only drop maps up to two tiers higher. Even the "maps drop one/two tiers higher" bonus from Atlas completion can not bypass these limitations. That's it. (Zana missions, Cartographer strongboxes, a few specific encounters and a couple of other things have their own separate drop rules, which might be confusing some people. But the above applies to just regular monsters killed inside of a map, which will account for maybe 99% of your map drops.) Last edited by Abdiel_Kavash#5296 on Sep 25, 2018, 3:23:25 AM

" First off - your observation is correct, thats how it works. Sustaining red maps without at least 100 atlas progression is tough. This is how this number works: You kill stuff and it drops loot. RNG then determines its a map. RNG then determines if its a unique map or a normal one, is it white, magic or rare as well as the maps tier. If RNG decides the drop should be a t6 for instance, thats where the atlas progression number kicks in. If you had 100% atlas progress, then this t6 will drop as a t7. If you had 50% completion bonus, then you have a 50/50 chance to get a t6 or a t7. If you had 150% completion, then you would get a t7 guaranteed and still enjoy a 50/50 chance for a t8 to drop. So with at least 100 atlas progression, you need to sustain t10s which will then turn into t11s and therefore sustain of red maps is much much easier. With 150 completion you would have to sustain t9s and half of those maps would still turn out to be t11s. Now map bosses can (keyword) always drop +2 maps and magic mobs can always drop +1 maps - while ignoring the atlas bonus. So maps with "bloodlines" mods plus Zanas "bloodlines" stacked onto it can be really good for sustain. Now there are plenty magic mobs running around and they could all drop a +1 map which could be a +2 map - given a high enough atlas progression plus generous RNG rolls ;) Usually I do complete at least 100 maps on the atlas and then switch to a shaping approach so I can run my favorite maps for the opportunity costs of being unable to chase elder around easily. I would farm up like 20-30 reds before I even start running reds. Sustain is rough early on and 20-30 maps is nothing :) They´ll just melt away and most likely you dont get the returns you needed to sustain. Thats normal, keep going. Farm 20-30 maps again and try again. At some point you´ll be able to sustain. Its just the initial phase. Once this first entry barrier has fallen and you can sustain t11 - you are in the game. From there its just grind for the higher tiers which will drop eventually. |

For SSF you need to actively exploit Zana. Both by buying from her and using the alternate function. She's most important.
Know all 3:1 vendor recipe to not miss an uncompleted map. Lost maps prophecy helps a lot with the whites, and it's very common. The bad news - in SSF high Atlas completion takes forever. I know it by personal experience. It goes very slowly, bit by bit. There's a great chance you'll never be able to complete certain maps. Unless you manage to up your Atlas bonus to at least 110-120, you'll more likely be unable to self sustain low-to-mid tier red maps. Atlas bonus is mostly related to tier of map drops, rather than quantity. You'll be hard to get drops relevant to area/monster lvl with 91 completion. Thx everyone!

god thanks to everyone! that helps so much.
But is it just me. Why can a T15 map drop a T1 map (theoretically). Wouldn´t it make sense to drop maps as well based on the tier (so maximum -2 tiers). I feel horrible if I use up my whole pool of maps and are left with maps that are 5-10 tiers lower than what I currently farmed. Especially since farming lower maps has little to no value and gives almost no sulphite for what I need. I know that SSF is harder in general and that the game is not balanced around you doing your thing and trying to complete everything on your own. Not going to ask for that but I really hope the map progression gets a rework. For me the most baffling aspect is that it is so difficult to sustain certain maps. I don´t really understand why this is done. Isn´t playing maps the goal of the game? Its like getting electro shocks if you want to move a figure on a chest plate to play the game. Kinda feels counter intuitive. While on the other side delve is just "jump in and farm as far as you come, have fun, enjoy" .. if you want to farm more mines you can go any map and farm anything to get sulphite while the progression is just influenced by difficulty (higher maps = more drops). While in maps if you run higher maps you do not necessarily have a positive outcome or even the return of what you put in. Mapping is so strange compared to delving. You need to chisel, alch, roll maps, watch elder influence, watch which you unlock to not unlock the wrong ones, get RNG blessed to drop even maps to continue, have different maps with different loot so that you need to be lucky to even get the option to farm those places. Comon! xD .. WHAT.. Btw, funny part is this is mostly only noticeable if you play SSF for once. I played trade league for over 5y and never complained ever about this. But honestly mapping is super broken and not fun at all. ESPECIALLY! .. the aspect that you have to full clear all maps. I hate that I can´t just enjoy killing, no I have to methodically kill stuff to not miss out on monsters cause I need to sustain maps, thus I need to be as efficient with every map as I humanly can be. Man GGG, I love you and I throw 60$ at you every 3 month for being the best developer out there in the F2P genre, but this.. Please have a look at it. ^^ Anyway, thanks guys :) sorry for the rant. |
