HC RIP LVL 94 RF 8k HP one shot on zana map Path of exile
" It's not a speculation. You can literally see in the video how the fractured mob dies, how all the spawns from it are stuck in one position, how they ALL swing at the EXACT same time and kill him. He got hit by five, maybe six of one of the most hard-hitting mobs in the game at once, while having 6k+ hp (and not 8k like he claims), in a t14 map with less armour/increased damage mods. This death was well deserved. |

" I'm not. Why do people play HC, then whine when they ( inevitably) die? |

So youve learned your lesson here right? Next time you encounter this you will think twice, that's what hardcore is about learning from your deaths and improving. You see streamers with insane amount of hours put into this game still get oneshot from time to time, it's part of the hardcore experience. There would be no point with hardcore if you could make a build that is 100% safe.
Getting to 100 takes both skill and luck, i think all players that got to 100 will agree with me on that. |

A lot of teaching and preaching.
Any death out of technical issues (lag/disconnect) is always a player's fault. Yes, people make mistakes on a constant, general base. Robots don't. So there's something known as "error correction", widely used by game developers in many genres and styles - giving you the opportunity to work around fixing your situational bad moves (if you are willing to and prone of taking the right actions). Of course some genres are out of the equation for obvious easons - FPS, bullet hell, etc. While (a)RPGs are likely to have it. Especially classic RPGs. In PoE, there's none. Most of the times when you die it's instant, out of the blue, and you can't tell why. Like OP for ex. Taking into account that people aren't flawless, and aRPG genre has never been about rapid reactions and 1 hit KO, this error corection is present to a bigger or lesser extent in many games of this genre. The question is: should players in PoE be severely punished for the slightest mistake, and shouldn't error correction be a part of the ingame fights? And is it a conscious design choice, or a desgn flaw caused by inability to provide proper balance and deal with phenomenons such as power creep/damage inflation/speed on both sides (players and monsters)? They could at least give us a combat log that tracks the last 50 actions so you can check wtf killed you and for how much raw dmg, how much got reduced, blocked, dodged and how much you actually took.

IC CwDT wouldn't safe you either. Since it would likely be on cooldown from previous non-fatal hits. I'm for example not using IC CwDT too with my ground slam duelist on HC - still alive at lvl 87.
I think the lesson here is to lure fracture mob to more open space or incorporate evasion / block. I think even some kind of evasion - e.g. 2K would safe you. MY CHALLENGES ARE DONE ON HC, IT'S NOT SC GUYS! Last edited by Filousov#5457 on Sep 17, 2018, 5:01:57 AM

Just a typical fractured mob death.
Mb they should fix it to make fractured monster spawn over some period of time like they made it long ago with devourer packs. |

you know the mob probably inflected BLEED on you especially with fracture its possible you were hit with multiple bleeds. Bleed is super OP atm from mobs
