The Twilight Strand - A Comprehensive New Player Guide

POE is a complicated game, and trying to read a guide to all of its mechanics at once is really overwhelming. So I decided to write a guide that introduces mechanics slowly over the course of a semi-walkthrough of the main storyline, along with newbie-friendly builds that go into the individual mechanics of that build in more depth.

The result is The Twilight Strand.

In it, you'll find a basic introduction to POE's mechanics, a breakdown of some of POE's language and keywords, and a list of 18 Guided Builds that cover all 18 Ascendancy Classes available to new players using only skills available during Act 1's progression. I'm a teacher in the real world, and I've done my best to be thorough and careful with the ordering of the guide so that it'll introduce things at a manageable pace without dumping all of POE's thousand mechanics on a poor newbie all at once.

This is a first published draft, and feedback is extremely welcome, particularly on the guided builds themselves.

Nice guide!

Only partway through the guide, but so far it seems to have a logical flow for someone unfamiliar with the game, and explains the most important aspects players will need to know as they get started.

I'm not that great of a build analyst, so I will leave that to others.

I've said this already on reddit, but man this guide is excellent. I'm going to plaster links to it all over the place. Would it help if I read through and gave detailed feedback on what you've got in there?
Have you done something awesome with Sire of Shards? PM me and tell me all about it!
Ridiculously good.
What a huge amount of work for the community's use.

This guide is amazing. Color scheme is alittle bright for my liking but the content is so well done. GGG should do something similar or link your content.
Recommend a sticky on the builds page or the help page for the guide if they can do something like that. I basically found out 90% of the info on this game reading a hodgepodge mix of build guides and forum posts when I started back in essence league. This one has quite alot of useful info and most of the builds, while not necessarily shaper or uber viable, can be done that way with practice and decent gear and will at least take you to reds.
This deserves to be a Sticky somewhere.

Thank you Sir.
