Could Incursion League be any possibly worse than it is?

Basically, the complaints can be summed down to:
1) too much RNG
2) only high-DPS AoE builds are really late-game viable.

Well that's pretty disappointing, especially that like half of the skills in game simply CANNOT clear ultra fast, but people play them because they like them.

Point me to one, and I'll prove to you how wrong you are. The level of DPS you need for incursions is LAUGHABLE. You can literally take heavy strike and one-shot packs because of Ancestral Call+Melee Splash.

Against my better judgement, I decided to give Incursion a try. Rolled up an old-school melee character, Heavy Strike, Sweep, and Leap Slam, just to see what it's like to play something other than an AoE speed-clear build in an Incursion. Surprise! It sucks.

I guess it really is time to uninstall. I wish I could say I was surprised...

I also wish I was surprised when I started browsing feedback forums. Also, I'm pretty sure I can make Sweet/Heavy Strike work. You know, Ancestral Call, melee splash and all that stuff...

It isn't PoE 1.0 anymore. You may not like it, but it is what it is.
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.

Yes, I know that can add AoE effects to any number of skills, and just play the meta, but to me, the point of playing RPGs is to build characters that are uniquely my own, and not just carbon-copies of what everyone else is playing; the point of playing a melee character isn't to have it turn into an AoE spellcaster but with melee tags on everything, because that's not what the word "melee" means. I find it boring to have every build turn into an AoE clear speed build; PoE used to offer more genuine choice than that, and I miss the feeling of being able to play the game in a variety ways that actually felt different.

But that's just me. If you like the current meta, and you're enjoying this league, then you keep right on enjoying it, and keep right on supporting it. I've got no problem with that whatsoever, having thrown plenty of money at GGG myself over the years (the evidence of which is visible to the right of this post). After all, why would I? I have a 100-game list of shame on my Steam account that I can play instead, including multiple other RPGs.

(Grim Dawn, BTW, is excellent.)
Stay sane, exiles!
