Full conversion fire hit really?
But A LOT does scale with fire, to make it worthwhile
Added fire damage and Herald of Ash give about 60% of physical damage as added fire damage. |

So let me get this straight.
- Avatar of Fire - 1 Pyre - 1 Call of the Brotherhood - one of Xoph's Nurture, Signal Fire, or Vulconus - Block lightning and cold with Combat Focus I then get all the fire damage, 86% of the lightning damage, 90% of the cold damage, and all of the physical damage all at the same time? Add in 3 heralds because you are an Elementalist... I'm feeling a little woozy here. Edit: Wait there is more. You can 6L a bow so then Kaom's Heart is a viable option also. Someone please tell me none of this is true, Last edited by beaniac#7060 on Jun 1, 2018, 2:31:14 AM

" it's true. Mostly cuz the rework wasn't thought out very well. Cuz they were too concerned with having a working tooltip to care about the skill's balance or identity. |

OK so peoples scaling and logic here kind of confuses me. The skill CHOOSES an element to use, and deals no damage of anything other than that element. That means if the skill selects to do Cold, even if you have converted everything to fire to boost fire damage, that means that the skill will actually do 0 damage on that hit. Likewise with lightning. I'm thinking it will actually work in a very similar way to wild strike - each of the elemental adds is 1 of 3 separate "attacks" that can be chosen, not just flat added damage to a skill that can be combined through mechanics. Otherwise it is stupidly broken, and with the way GGG likes to nerfhammer, they probably wouldn't allow it.
And if you use the combat focus jewels to only allow the skill to select fire, then wont it just not select the base damage that isn't fire? |

" No it converts the damage it didn't choose then doesn't choose it (if that makes sense :p) To be honest i suspect this is broken but they need to fix their conversion formula so that three way conversions with say extra damage as chaos don't get three times the intended value (this is why the void node on trickster was creating so much fuss). So far they have dodged the issue but when ele hit vids are gonna appear a week in doing 10mil maybe they will fix it. Who am i kiddin they will leave it there :P |

Nub, it chooses the damage after conversion, not before. so if you convert everything to fire, all that added converted cold and lightning is on top of it's base. So for ease of showing, assuming 100 cold, 100 lightning, and 100 fire base, a fully converted ehit fire dmg would be base 300. that base 300 is scaled by your tree and gear.

Yeah, it's simple to figure out if you think about it in stages.
Stage one is the conversion stage where it calculates what damage type turns into what. Stage two is the selection stage where it actually picks what damage type it'll be dealing on that hit, which can be influenced by jewels so you effectively have only one damage type selectable. It's a pretty funky rework imo, really don't feel like going the single element route myself so I just hope double or even triple element builds are somewhat viable atleast (in which case I guess the single element ones (namely fire) are going to be hella broken). Had something along the lines of a cold+lightning damage build, either elementalist or inquisitor, using EE and shock for boosting the damage output while freezing/chill would be more of a defensive component. |

The new Elemental hit works with the existing order of operations. The difference is that instead of rolling and only adding one element, it adds ALL three to EVERY attack, THEN it rolls and removes all but one. These are at two opposite ends of the process. A truncated description of the order:
Old elemental hit operated at the very first step for every part of it. Meanwhile, Doomfletch and Wild Strike actually operated on Step 2. New Elemental Hit now operates on the first step, and step 5; (the last) it GIVES you the damage at step 1, but only TAKES IT AWAY on step 5. That's why it's gotten so much attention, since it leaves us steps 2-4 to play around with the other types of damage. If we can convert our lightning and cold damage to fire, then we can effectively "keep" all three rolls' worth of damage on every attack. Look guys I'm pretty sure mark made a mistake there.
The skill chooses an element first. Once the element is chosen, the conversions are applied. So if you have everything converted to cold: Skill chooses 100 fire damage, it converts to 100 cold damage Skill chooses 100 lightning damage, it converts to 100 cold damage Skill chooses 100 cold damage, no conversion is applied and you still deal 100 cold damage I know mark said you'll do double or triple damage with conversions but that can't possibly be correct, I'm pretty sure he misspoke. It should work the way I described. I will be VERY SURPRISED if what mark said is correct. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. Last edited by Legatus1982#1658 on Jun 1, 2018, 7:22:19 AM

The synergies would be insane...
- Ngamahus Flame = 50% of phys to fire - Call of the Brotherhood = 40% of lightning to cold - Cold to Fire = 50% cold to fire + 29% extra cold as fire - Xophs Blood (with Avatar of Fire) = 50% of everything to fire - Crimson & Viridian Combat Focus = only fire taken The base hit damage with a perfectly rolled ngamahus is 2.999 per hit BEFORE any other bonus except conversion (with 1 gem though). With the right tree and equip youll get 49% res penetration and -48% res reduction with your flammability curse and another 50% increased damage taken from taunt, intimidate and covered in ash. This will be insane and Ill try to make that build work :D already got a tree ready that looks promising. Last edited by raggapaul#2152 on Jun 1, 2018, 8:29:29 AM
