When GGG sold 80% of the company to Tencent?

GGG has already discussed this. Just google and you'll find a recent write up on it by GGG.

The other company isn't micromanaging GGG.

It's sort of like how NCSoft bought ArenaNet for Guildwars, ages ago.

The other company just saw a way to get a chunk of profit, by giving them investment money.

Probably helps with GGG's desire to be bigger in SE Asia as well.

It'll be fine.

THOUGH TENCENT IF YOU READ THIS FORCE THEM TO ADD MERCENARIES !!!!!

I hope your right. Look at what happened when activision bought blizzard. Blizzard almost immediately started going down the drain and its getting worse month by month. They dont even treat their player base loyally or with respect like they used to. All they want is your money. They dont listen to the community at all anymore unless an uprising is about to start.

They didn't ruin Epic Games. They didn't ruin Riot games. You will find people claiming "Tencent had bad influence on Fortnite and League of Legends" because "Uuuuh, duuuuh, they are - subjectively - worse games now then they were like, you know, before...". There's no record of Tencent interfering with the game development in other companies they've bought. We just have to believe this, wait and see.

Meanwhile, I'll keep paying for good products. If the surplus ends up in Chris' pocket or some Chinese guy's pocket, I do not care that much about, really.

That's true. Epic ruined Fortnite long before Tencent was ever even in the picture. They completely took a massive dump on their founders and weren't even remorseful about it. I was one of them. The worst company I've ever dealt with. Polar opposite of GGG, to me at least.

But I digress, point is, Tencent had nothing to do with it.

My point exactly. Fortnite wasn't meant to be a PUBG copy. It started out as a unique take on Tower Defense PvE game, much like Dungeon Defenders, with base progression alongside characters. Many of us got massively behind this, for years, much like how PoE started. There was absolutely no talk of PvP, least of all in BR format.

Epic got a team of Unreal devs to work on a side project, they came up with BR. When Epic found out how popular their BR idea became, it just halted development toward everything else and left all those who invested multiple hundreds into Founders packs behind.

They were pushing loot crates so hard toward the "end" as well, with PvE events being made so hard to progress through that you almost had to spend money to make it within their limited timespan. Of course, each event having a limited edition shiny at the end of the rainbow.

It was all just extremely shady and blatantly unethical. Tons of Founders bailed on them. Their only success is BR, and they didn't even make up that shit on their own. They went from creative genius to just another copycat cashgrab in a matter of months.

Sry to say this but I only heard about fortnite after the switch, so maybe it was for the good of the game that it got a bigger presence on the gaming scene?

At what cost though? Success, when you promise one thing and actively accept financial support from players to reach that goal, then do a complete U-turn without even a drop of remorse? That comes at a price.

Epic will never even get the acknowledgement of their existence from me again. I don't cut strings easily, but when I do...
