I'd love to go, but sadly that trip would be too long (and probably too expensive). As much as I wish you'd hold it in a country with a shorter travel time (at least for most of us, it seems), I do understand why you want to hold it in New Zealand.

I do hope it happens, though! Sounds like an awesome event.

not famous, just old enough to know how things that everyone did because everyone else did it turned to things you better had not done because everyone else had done it.

advertisements don't work on me. the industry telling me: "open your complete life to us so we can monetise it, you only live once" doesn't make sense to me. they're exploiting your intention to make yourself immortal in the internet while the only way to make to achieve that is to leave a mark at people who matter. you won't get that by having a facebook account.

I'd be in on it but going to New Zealand is to much of a trip to take from Germany.

Unfortunately the flight/travel costs would exceed my budget. Though I'd love to visit NZ and meet you awesome peeps. :(

Travelling there would be the most extreme part of the costs - I checked for November 2018 (schedules for 2019 aren't available) and from Vienna it's around 400€ (500$) per person and direction. Better hotels seem more expensive than usual in a big city, holiday flats surprisingly cheap, from what my quick search revealed (2* hotels from 35$/day/person up - that's nice, 3* hotel from 125$/day/person up - that's expensive, nice little lofts from 100$/day/2 persons up). Food is pretty expensive from what I heard, especially if you are a vegetarian and especially every day stuff like bread, restaurants seem a bit high, but not extremely priced. Overall I'd calculate with around 100-200$/day/person, depending on your needs.

I live in South Africa and its more than R12000 ($1000) for return flights.

I would say join to an international Gamescon, (next one will be in Cologne, Germany), and for those who can't attend the meeting, sell online tickets in a supporter pack, with some extra stuff. For most of us, it is too expensive to travel to NZ.
