[3.9] Discomancer - Skeleton Mages | SSF HC viable | All Content | Budget

I have a 6link Pledge in Legion (got some 6link RNJesus intervention), but the skeleton mage attacks seems rather slow, as Greater Spell Eccho repeats 2 times and does more damage with repeats, but doesnt give any cast speed and the 3 cast animation is very very slow. Also the fact that you cannot interrupt casting the skellies must be a bug, you can interrupt every other animations, even multistrike.

I like the build, but the 3.7 no interruption and the slow cast speed ruins it.
Yeah the standard "Spell Echo" has been exchanged on the pledge. It does slow the skellies down a lot in comparision to before.
What you could do is to try to use a Femurs. I already had that in mind before but wasn't too sure about it but on paper it nets now better results. Here is an alternated PoB for it: https://pastebin.com/bhw9bGHM

That gives roughly the same PoB DPS as the Pledge but is of course still slower.

If you could test how that works out, it would be great. If it does, I'll update the core guide for it too. I also re-allocated the missing points from behind MOM to some life and mana to compensate. Now Tree needs now one level more to finish.

yea pledge of hands is now unfortunately very clunky with skellies :-(

therefore i bought a 6L-staff and essence crafted minion damage (of fear) on it and with spell echo support as a gem you can create a pseudo 7L this way

You can also try to get high minion damage with essences and luckly hit +1 of socketed gems...after this try craft an other minion affix.

i know this is not the best weapon, but i will update it as soon as i got more time/currency ;-)

added fire damage could be updated with empower (3/4)

best regards

Yeah there are some possibilities. Pledge and Femurs are the best option though for normal players.

Hello peeps!

I fully reworked my guide for 3.8
It is still in the works but the super budget version is quite complete.

Any ideas or questions? Just shoot them. I will answer as good as I can. This build is balanced around the Skelemages, not spectres or golems.

Hey, thanks for the guide. I have questions:

- Have you tested lioneye's vision with skelly mages? It's too expensive with a 6 link for me, but the armour seems pretty much essential these days, and the pierce as well. Something like this? https://pastebin.com/Q8uXzkCy

- I know the skittebots freeze and chill, but do you feel you lose a lot with elemental equilibrium: freeze/chill for defence and chance to shock for offence?

- How do you clear at a decent speed? I love skelly mages, but by the time you plant them, and they shoot their projectiles, even with faster projectiles, they are so slow to do any damage. SRS without any move speed bonus go faster than the skelly mage projectiles! Skelly melee with feeding frenzy just seem to clear so much faster, with so much more damage.

- How do you deal with mobs coming in different directions? Skelly mages are satisfying when the monsters line up in front, but different directions mean your effective damage can drop down to tiny amounts.

Cheers.

The chest is definitely something to go for. Even a 5L with skelies is fully sufficient. About your pastebin, it is something complete different, can't tell you much about that.

Skitterbots are just big QoL for a single Slot.

Since their projectiles fly roughly 5 times around the planet and for clearing you have at least 10 skelies out, you shoot 50 projectiles per cast from them. It takes like 0.5 seconds to go up and then hell breaks loose.

Totally doesn't matter where they come from. They "turn" instantly.
You will just have a screen full of disco.

I have updated the guide a bit.
I got back to the pierce support, like in the old versions of the guide.
It just adds up for mapping and being able to do blight encounters with ease.

There are now 2 setups for our weapon. One without pierce to get the most out of our skeletons for doing uber elder etc. and one with pierce which you should use while leveling and normal mapping/blight encounters.
