Mathil's Analysis on current status of this league.
" Ah. So he directly admits that money is more important than making PoE a good game. I think I just lost the last shred of hope of PoE utilizing its immense potential and becoming something absolutely amazing. There was a time when GGG said that they were making PoE a game that THEY want to play. I see none of that left in this statement. |

Well the companies financial well being has to be top priority.
Cant blame him for that. All he said is: They wont skip a league in order to rework old content, but they want to achieve this in another way. Would love to know what way he is talking about though... |

" Are you serious? We're talking about a lot of jobs here, and the future of a lot of people. Having this business model REQUIRES additions, changes and new stuff. Being ignorant about it, and demand that they work on the game "for free", while living in tents, isn't really helping anyone. He didn't admit to anything of what you said. You just chose to interpret it that way. That said, I think (read: hope) a new Legacy League or Breach League would created enough "influx of returning players" to stay afloat while the make their game better. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I'm happy to help them out financially. I'm standing here ready to pay them for their work. All they need to do is give me that alternative to Xsolla that Chris mentioned a few month ago now...
<crickets> I really like the idea of another Leaguestones league... but that shit is like crack. Months after the first taste I'm still hungry for it! If GGG gave me another Leaguestones event and offered me a payment alternative, I would rain money down upon them! I don't care that it's empty carbs, offering nothing of nutritional value, I would gobble that stuff up :) Hell, you could even give me another Power Rangers set of armour for the challenges and I would even love that! " They´d want the money upfront to avoid any risk. Thats why I suggested those kickstarter like supporter packs and I like the idea of combining it with Legacy League. Old and readily available content everybody loved (except for the clunky stone management maybe) because you were free to do whatever you like. So that might be good enough reason for players to come back and buy those supporter packs even if they dont care about the overhaul. |

" ya, and its not just his pockets, or his staffs wages, his top priority to us the gamers who have invested time in this game is that we wake up tomorrow and theres still a game with servers and all our items online for us to play with a full support team making sure if it goes down it comes right back up again. the game continuing to exist is the number 1 priority for everyone in the poe picture. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Am not. " Yeah yeah yeah, that sounds so cool and what not. And I couldn't care less about any of that. As a gamer, what I care about is Path of Exile the game, not whether the company behind the game can pay wages to their employees. People who throw money at GGG support PoE, not GGG as a company. This is a gamer's privilege. If GGG dropped PoE and started making a completely different game, how many people would stop throwing money at them? That said, I do understand why GGG is doing what they do. This doesn't mean I agree or accept those actions though; long ago PoE was an unpolished diamond, but somewhere mid-polishing it was thrown into a pigsty and all the dirt was allowed to free accumulate into it. There were options, different routes they could've taken, but GGG decided to go down the route that lead into today's PoE. Talking about how many jobs are on the line doesn't lighten my disappointment about how GGG seems to now consider PoE a fat moneymaking machine and not much more. |

" Still ignorant. Even more ignorant. Without the company there is no PoE. I didn't think I had to spell this out to a grown man/woman. And the F2P model requires a certain amount of new content, because of advertisement towards new players, and carrots towards old (returning) players. Even though YOU think A LOT of players would come back to a three month league without any new additions, this might not be the case. There's even a huge part of the community that thinks three months are too long. Even though you see it from a consumer perspective, and only care about what YOU want, it IS allowed to think a little bit further than your own nose. While other companies have lots of games that keeps bringing in money all the time, GGG has not. But as you so eloquently put it; "you couldn't care less", which makes your arguments a little bit... Narrow. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Mar 20, 2018, 9:35:52 AM

GGG's business side of things affects my opinion of the state of PoE about as much as Kojima getting the boot affected my gameplay experience of MGSV.
But yeah, you're clearly a pureblood fanboy. No point talking to you. |

" LOL and how's konami doing nowdays? I heard latest mgs game without kojima at head was a smashing success for konami. And you are now equating company with one lead designer. If you said you wouldn't care if chris left ggg, ok, I could get that, but if GGG is not profitable, there won't be PoE anymore. Incredible that you need this explained to you. „I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“ „If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“ No mod action. Business as usual. Last edited by Odoakar#1827 on Mar 20, 2018, 1:54:10 PM
