uber elder is garbage

I wish those kind of end game fights weren't bottlenecked behind some really limited concepts like gross gear check. With all the shit they throw at you, it's statistically impossible to not get 2 overlapping phases like elder sucking you + shaper beam and if you're unlucky enough to be positioned in the wrong spot when they start casting, you will literally have nowhere to go. This will inevitably put classes that have inherently more survival ahead of more glass cannon classes. You simply cannot compare 10k juggernauts running around nigh invincible with an inquisitor/deadeye/whateverthefuck which need to spend up to 200 exalts to be able to pull some batshit insane dps just to skip phases and even THEN you'll get your ass handed from time to time due to the inherent absurd rng of the fight.

Path of exile ended with shaper fight for me. Such a greatly designed fight. Sure, a dps check, but most of all the outcome of the fight was within your power because everything was so logical and telegraphic, unlike the shitfest that uber elder is atm. The only people that wouldn't agree with me are rocking their RF bullshit or whatever powerhouse meta tanky build that allows them to completely ignore ground effects and literally tank 2 uber elder at the same time - see zizaran's rf on standard.

My only regret is that I cannot 'lock' the instance, so I wouldn't be tempted to waste another set on that abomination of a fight.

@GGG: We're not demanding hyper tanky bow builds with little investment. What we want are fair fights for all builds, just like shaper was.

Quick question: I just got the 15th fragment, on my 5th red elder spawn.

1) Do you know when the (memory) achievement triggers? Is it bugged or is it after Uber Elder now?

2) You guys think its doable with zombies?

No clue on #1 as I'm on 14/15.

#2 - highly doubtful given how fragile zombies are and there's a lot of extraneous damage in that fight (and it's kind of a dps-race "check")

If you do like 5mil dps with your zombies you can probably do it using multiple portals but your talking extreme investment and an umbillicus to get to that.

I'd love to see if the dude who got the +2 skeleton skin of the lords in breach league could do it with skellies now or if they just die too fast.

Did the fight 5 times without learning from any videos, completed 3 times.

They should just fix some non-dodgeable overlaps of mechanics and it's fine.

So from what i have gathered from reddit, the achievement is broken and cannot be achieved at the moment. Which is somewhat dissapointing. (I advanced Zana Quest to killing Shelder, I'll try to get him on the map today, but i dont think the achievement will upate. Also it still lists the 7(!) memory pieces for the achievement in its description.)

Shaper does not do enough dps to kill (6L) zombies, they can just facetank his beam (with 47k hp and all the regen/leech that comes from all the zombie nodes). But I'm worried that Uber elder is just twice the dmg? (This is following Clooney is the best batman's build, with few deviations..)

I have no pixel bushido that requires me not to use all the portals.

Just found a vid from a week ago from Uber Elder down (not deathless) with skellies ( youtube: 56E7mHyugEo ) + spectres, but i dont like spectres and just want zombies :p (with animate guardian and stone golem, so its not as pure as id like anyway).

Gotta say I agree with the title here, after close to 20 red elder spawns he finally appeared on a t15 for my last fragment. Once you get that though the fun just doesn't stop, you then need to kill shaper, then guardians twice, then finally you get the fight. (And you better hope you can kill him, otherwise he is stuck on shaper afaik).

Luckily I was able to take him down on my GC miner (barely) without Kaom's Roots. I would for sure swap to them next time though (if I ever bother with the fight again) because Elder's slow will definitely get you killed. I would go so far as to say Kaom's Roots are mandatory if you want to run it deathless or in HC.

After it was finally over he dropped a quiver. No jewel, no sword, no staff, no ring, the fucking quiver. Puke.

With all that said though, it is a fun and intense fight, just too much bullshit. I doubt I'll ever attempt the fight again because running 8x guardian maps just to get to the fight just doesn't feel worth it. I guess I'll just stick to Red Elder, oh well. Such endgame. Much wow.

I can faceroll pretty much everything on my necromancer in HC but refuse to do this fight purely because everything I've watched or read about it says I'm going to get slowed into a shaper funnel or shaper balls and die. Dropping Ullr (as a build enabling unique) for the roots (and losing 4 precious sockets that are my defensive setup) is stupid and crippling.

Uber elder is hard- not garbage. You do not need a specific build or specific uniques. I have dropped Uber-elder down twice now on a build I put together myself without a guide. I have never had even close to a mirror worth of currency in my life- never even had a head hunter. Some of the harder gear pieces I made myself. You’ll notice, I killed him on an elementalist, who gets no endurance charges, has very little armor, doesn’t use kaom’s roots. Not on standard in gg gear...beastiary league.

It’s possible. It’s not easy...it’s not designed to be easy. It’s designed to be a fight that very few people finish...don’t look at it and say that “I can’t Uber Elder, it’s a garbage fight.” It’s not supposed to be a fight that everybody finishes.

What I will agree is garbage is the RNG mechanic getting the 15th memory fragment. If you get lucky and it spawns before you’re ready, you end up with an Uber elder on your atlas you can never get rid of. I almost finished the end game grind for elder guardians before I got the 15th fragment. Pure RNG gating of content is not a great design.

Also bad design...why on God’s green Earth, would they not GIVE YOU A PORTAL OUT OF THE ARENA WHEN THE FIGHT IS OVER? Why, oh WHY should I have to log out just to leave the arena? That’s just dumb.

I ran some old 3.0 maps on Standard yesterday. Gorge with Vulnerability. Have a Champion. Perma Fortify. Level 96. Full Ngamahu Cyclone that I’ve done Shaper with EZ mode. 7k life. The bosses leap slam one shot me. Fortify felt like nothing.

When I read the change log I knew they would overtune it. Things felt great last league. Now we are back to stupid one shots no matter your build. Can’t imagine how hard regular T15 Elder is going to hit for let alone Uber.

My slayer with 7k hp is getting perma stunned in t7+ maps wtf.
