except magma orb, and spark (bit rng) and fire nova, and bladefall the only reason you think this is the only mine that works like this is because your basing your entire knowledge of the subject off one video go play some miners and actually min-max them.

Sounds like some sort of meme. Neither of this skills are even close to GC with mines.

Magma Orb is pretty close all-around to GC. It generally won't reach as far, but it can have better single-target potential with all the aoe available b/c of overlapping on the chains.

Bladefall is a little weaker, and only targets on top of the mines now, but it also gets great use out of coated shrapnel jewels to potentially become stronger than GC. Also gets more overlaps on some of the bigger bosses.

And Fire Nova mine is just plain good. Especially with the +2 repeats enchant. Although admittedly it doesn't work as well with Tremor Rod. And its mana cost is insane.

Idk about spark, tbh. Custom mines usually work better with slower casting spells, but i can see some clearing potential in it at least.

How many people play selfcast GC? Exactly, point made. Not to mention that GC mines isn't even meta to begin with. Just something made up by the noobies in this thread that think they have a clue what they are talking about. (There is no GC person in top 10 skills used in harb)

Just stop making a fool outta yourselves even more.

How many other spells people play with mines? Right, there is reason for that.

Top of the ladder argument is just...people who push the ladder play top clear speed build?...it wasn't popular in the begining?

I don't think you have idea. *shrugs*

There are plenty of other mine builds. Arc miners, BF miner, fire nova mine, frostbolt mines. You can play anything with mines and do well. Because once more, MINES ARE DUMB.

And I didn't say top 10 race skills. I said top 10 skills used in Harbringer. Theres no GC there. So there goes your 'meta skill' troll right outta the window.

Bladefall mines become meh as soon as poison interaction with mine damage was nerfed. Now it's just...no thanks.

Never heard of anyone using Magma orb for mines. It doesn't sound like there will be too many overlaps or anything as broken as GC.

Fire Nova mine after poison nerf? I don't think so.

They don't comes close to GC or I might want to see some Shaper kills with this builds.

You said that this builds would perform as good as GC, just because they are mines too. They won't. They are much weaker.

Maybe it's sound a bit unexpected for you. But be ready. Ready now? Ok.

GC mines being less popular than KB, Barrage, Tornado, Cyclone, RF, Dark Pact and whatnot doesn't mean a goddamn thing. You should know this by now if you have idea how Meta works.

Many miners are very decent and Need like no budget.
GC miners are on another Level.

Not true. There is the very good Trapnel Shot trapper that is a build I'm playing now and into tier 5 maps that is working very well and fun-to-play. It even became a Build-Of-The-Week.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

I'm toying with going frostbolt totem hiero, with GC as my single target swap.
It was a bit awkward to do before if you wanted 100% conversion, needed to switch helms or gloves (And helms are not widely available at league start)
If the GC totems are actually decent for clear with the jewel though, might just stick with them, then can get a bit more aoe and area damage on tree as well (and or run a carcass jack)

Aren't traps main problem is cooldown? How does it feel?

Traps are fine for clearing, it's bosses that are the problem for them. But mines are great for single-target. Most of my sabs do both, one trap setup and one mine setup.

I'm skeptical of that trapnel shot build though, because traps kinda suck for directional skills (like shrapnel shot). If a trap is triggered by chain reaction or sunblast, it just points the skill in a random direction, so unless you're going without those and relying on enemies triggering every trap, you'd get a lot of misses.

Traps tend to be better with self-centered radial or nova type skills, or ground-targeted aoe skills (like firestorm)... stuff that will just blast an aoe around the trap when it's triggered, be it by enemy or chain reaction/sunblast. Personally with bows I just do blast rain traps (or rain of arrows if i wanna go pure phys), then use shrapnel shot mines for single-target (or tshot/barrage for pure phys).

I need to see it in action. They probably use another skill for clearing or maybe this skill still manage to consistently hit mobs and clear at acceptable speed anyway.

IMO, minefield should be nerfed so it can't shotgun (every spell is "the same" and can't hit twice the same mob). Mine problem solved.

However, GC is still a very strong spell for two reasons:
-Its damage are around the same as the other spells, but can hit a target three times per cast (except at the start and the end of the spell).
-The "start as physical and then is converted to cold damage" opens some pretty stupid combos (Atziri promise, for instance, if you don't really focus on it, or Atziri promise + Shade of solaris + Eber unification + Taste of Hate + Incandescant heart + double pyre and you enter the "why do I have 75% of my damage being chaos?" territory).

You can easily do around 3 million dps without relying on crit with GC self cast. It's not that easy to do that with any other spell (icestorm excepted).
