Character freezes, then the game catches up and runs really fast.

I'm not quite sure how to describe this bug. I just started playing yesterday and while I am loving the game, this bug could potentially be breaking if it happens in hectic areas.

- Xbox One X
- Washington server (located in Halifax, NS, Canada)
- Has been happening since install to new device on Nov 7.

About once every 30-60 minutes, my character will freeze onscreen. I know the game isn't frozen because I can see water still rippling. After a random amount of time frozen in place and unable to move (from half a second to sometimes 4 seconds) my game will move really fast as if to catch up on all the inputs from my controller in the amount of time that the character was frozen on my screen. Sorry if this has been already reported, I'm just not sure of the terminology.

That's a desync from the server and it's plagued many many people on both PC and Xbox. I too am on the Washington server and have had those issues since launch. I've had conversations with the devs and they are working on making the game run smoother but also encourage you to make sure your internet is perfect. For example, don't run your xbox on WiFi, try to get it wired. And if it can only be on WiFi, make sure you have 0 packet loss and the wifi strength is pretty close to perfect.

Also, I've experienced desync issues this past week much more than in previous weeks.
Hello,

One thing I could recommend looking into on your end is running a winMTR trace and getting back to me with the results. For more info on that, please checkout the following link: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/361292

The IP to run that against for Xbox is whichever location is closest to you if you decide this is something you'd like to investigate further on your end as it sounds like this may be an ISP issue.

Jeff, I'm an idiot. How the heck do I run that? I've downloaded the winMTR to my laptop and used the ip you entered but the list is empty. I believe it's the most recent version.

Try right-clicking it and selecting "Run as Administrator".

Done. Still pulling in as blank. Do I need to do anything to my hardware?

Hi Jeff, thanks for the reply. I am running the program right now, I just input that IP into the Host box and this is my clipboard result after running it for a couple minutes:

Wow. I'm glad I'm not with this Xbox 1 problem.
Turns out it was just my connection. Forwarded my ports and it's pretty good now, these desyncs only happen about once an hour now and not for very long.
I also have the same problem with lag spikes/desync. It's the only game on Xbox I have a problem with. I even upgraded my internet service (from 150/10 to 600/40), bought a new router and modem to try to see if that would help.

Also on the Washington DC server (in Ohio). I also just started playing this weekend since I'm on vacation this week. I used to play on PC just fine, but that was several years ago.

In a game with death penalties, this is extremely frustrating. I died a half dozen times in the last 2 days just to desync. If I try to speed run through a map, forget it. I'll sprint ahead then get rubberbanded back... especially if I hit a crowd of mobs... then dead.

A speed test on my Xbox One X shows: 242.84 Mbps download (this constantly tests low, even on a wired connection where my laptop gets 500+ Mbps), 44.77 Mbps Upload, 100% signal strength, 0% packet loss.

I just moved everything around in my living room to cut down on interference even. But even Xbox support says it's likely not me.
