Elementalist or Necromancer ascension? Deffinetly Elementalist, even for summoners.
|
So, having chose necromancer, and not having any passives in there to give anymore specters, zombies or skeletons, I was severely disappointed because I wanted to be a summoner and have an army.. I take a peek at elementalist, and notice she grants not only +1, but two +1 golem passives? Golems are stronger than 3 zombies and add you a buff each. Why does elementalist get super units where the supposed summoner doesnt? Dont get me wrong, I want the elementalist to have the + golem passives, but I also want the summoner to get some passives that increase golem count, zombie count, spectre count or skeleton count. Preferably all 3 in different routes of that passive tree. I dont know, just something. Increase the counts.. Let my army of darkness rise.

" Did your parents actually ever try to teach you manners? If yes, seems like they unfortunately failed. @OP: They do not give extra specters or skeletons, but you can get them from other points in the tree. I assume you are fairly new to PoE? Maybe start with some build guide, because the passive tree and the interaction between the tree, items, and gems is sometimes hard to understand at first sight. It is not about the number of things you put onto the battlefield. Necromancer is a pretty strong class (also, and specifically, for summoners). Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

one of the most overlooked facts of the necromancer is the Offerings effect you trait.
This is just such a powerful tool to have for suitability or just improving clear speed. Zombies with the slam jewels do insane damage and have great surviability given some leech from the tree. The necromancer also gets +2 to corpse creation from desecrate, allowing for resummoning of zombies in fights where they get aoe wiped. |

Not new to poe, I know about uniques and passives that grant more spectres but the uniques that offer them are costly, and golems + on elementalist is just a more wise choice for a pure summoner to take, instead of the meager +100% life and damage on your limited number of spectres. Having to use offerings also takes up gem slots, which the pure summoner build is already over taxed on using. Dual midnights is decent but you -60% hp using it, so you have to use shavs, preventing you from using the other body armor that gives you another spectre, you can also use the boots, but the stats on the boots are garbage. What I am saying is the passives in elementalist is a better choice than the summoner passives just for the fact you get super buff golems and more of them..

Assuming you're building specters, nothing in elementalist comes close to the Soul Weaver passive.
2 Golems are useless unless you've built a golem summoner (very different and requires 10-12 jewels to be really good). In addition, as someone mentioned, the Mistress of Sacrifice is a huge clear speed boost for summoners (or survivability boost if you dont play the speed meta.) For a specter based summoner, nothing comes close to Necromancer. For a golem based summoner, elementalist is better. For a zombie based summoner, elementalist gives you nothing, so Necro it is. ~Myth Last edited by Mythkiller#1811 on Oct 2, 2017, 12:17:27 PM

" I have to disagree. Each fire golem gives a flat 20% damage boost, is another minion on the field that is also dealing damage, and the very cheap golem 1h weapons also grant more golems. The elementalist is by far set up to be a better summoner. Take everything into account, jewls, gear, ect. Elementalist is better suited to be the "necromancer" because of these passives. I just made new summoner because of this issue. I will take all summoning passives, like I did in the previous, take all summoning jewls like I did in the previous, and I am sure the elementalist will far outperform the necro in terms of damage and survivability. https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Golem https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Raise_Spectre Just look at the options Last edited by Sixpackand2guns#4669 on Oct 2, 2017, 12:37:07 PM

" Wait a second. Are you using the golem jewels? If you are then you are building a golemancer and yes obviously then elementalist far, far outperforms necromancer. Typically when people say summoners on here, they mean zombies/specters/srs. Not Golems. Golems require like 5-8EX of investment to even get off the ground in red maps. ~Myth |

" Buffs from golems are binary, you either have them or you don't. There is no chance Elementalist is better than Necromancer. Support a free Hong Kong.

" No my previous level 88 summoner was not built for golems, having built purely for zombies, skeleton mages and spectres I see how much doing so makes it lack due to missing the + golem passives, for the reasons I have already mentioned. The better necromancer/summoner is not the necromancer but instead is the elementalist. Taking all the normal necromancer gear and passives, but instead picking elementalist will make your hero multitudes of times better in every aspect the necromancer lacks. |
