Is Quill Rain, Short Bow useful?

Hmm explosive arrow, gmp lmp and loh. With blood magic passive, brutal enough?
Last time I used explosive arrow in closed beta, I was an hp regen marauder. Never tried loh or leech as damage was low for leech. But I should have tried loh. I flawlessed with ease to 45 on hardcore but then I loaded up about 50 monkeys with charges then an elemental reflect wandered in. Then boom everything on the screen including me died. After that though I was done with the build. Usually how I am, get bored with it then make something new and crazy.

I do wonder if I should go for Point Blank as I can toe-to-toe-with-a-bow at the moment (still in normal but hey, it is damn fun managing the char).

I do have a (boring) normal bow as an alt but I use it rarely. I will Keep it ready (just in case).

I'm playing a point blank chin sol ranger. But kind of stuck right now. I need more survivability or even a respec but think it might be too late to shuffle points.
Point blank is fun with a chin sol just wish I had done it right, I tried to accomplish too much with the build. Maybe it would be über at lvl 80 but at this point it's a little off.

Its a bit mana hungry but i never seen something so powerfull and fun too play (i'm 63 , i dont have a 5L and i'm doing fine )

I suppose you could, but bear in mind that you can get to 95% crit chance and the same multiplier with a good Harbinger Bow, which does way more base damage.

The 50% less weapon damage makes it worse than a regular short bow for end game if you want to attack, but it's a great bow for EA and CoC.

If you want to go Cast on Crit Bow build this is my weapon of choice for the time being. Barrage, GMP, Chain, Ice Spear, Fire Ball and hilarity ensues. I'm still on the low end of the crit chance scale (~20%) but it already is immense fun to watch. Don't try to find a party that is friendly to this build, though..

I don't understand why. Most Quill Rain builds I've seen have a 20-30% crit chance. You don't attack 4x faster than a Harbinger to make up for the crit chance and do way less damage, so most have mana issues and have to make up for it with a Thief's Torment, giving up even more additional stats in the ring slot. What am I missing?
