Is Quill Rain, Short Bow useful?
Hey guys,
I recently found this unique bow on my lvl 15 ranger. It gives a lot of Attack Speed but reduced damage. I tried it but the reduced damage really threw me off. I put it back in my stash and switched it for my normal short bow. An hour later, my ranger dies but I still have my unique :) Is there a certain build or skills I need to follow to make this bow work? because it really didnt feel that strong imo... Thanks in advance! The planes and trains are to blame

I have one collecting dust in my stash... I'm afraid that outside of being a fun novelty, it's completely useless.
Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town.

you can use it for some explosive arrow builds..

Use it for ACT I every time you start a new ranger, after that it kinda becomes obsolete unless your entire build is made around it. Protip: link default attack to a key when using this bow.

You can try flat damage auras Anger and Wrath

start a ranger with a Quill Rain
then have anger + wraith, everything will melt until 3x :) IGN : JanetDevlin

It's not bad, it's good for builds with flat damage or basically anything that won't really be affected by the decreased damage.
I run an AS build and it works pretty well. In fact I tried switching out of Quill Rain a few times but never managed to do it. Lvl 30 atm, and still using Quill Rain. I doubt it'd last forever, but atm still have yet to find something better. At least for me. [EDIT] Btw I have Wrath and Hatred on. Will switch to Anger and Wrath eventually. Be better than having Hatred. Last edited by Azedenkae#1543 on Feb 27, 2013, 6:15:23 AM

It's really awesome, make a templar and go with this build

And completly drop physical dmg as it's very poor with the bow I'm currently lvl 27 with 700 dps on my elemental hit, 300 dps split arrow I tell you it's viable atleast in low level for the pvp :) I don't know if this is good for end-game but it's a lot of fun. |

" I'm going to try this! PS: to all those who have PM'd me for the bow, sorry, but it's not for sale! Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town.

It'll carry most new chars through act 1 normal specially if you have items with +damage (physical or elemental, doesn't really matter).
Other than that it is a core item for some of the explosive arrow builds, mainly ones that don't utilize projectile damage at all. I'd keep it until you drop silverbranch, which is even better leveling weapon as it doesn't lose it's effectiveness after act 1 (you can pretty much reach merciless using it, regardless of your build & class). IGN: Minnevaan / Smacktrick (either works)
