D3 hard to swallow facts

I can't understand why you are comparing the two. They are different games, if you like one, play it. If you like both, play both!

I really hate when people say this. The margins isn't that big, the only comparison are just some small to medium features.

What I believe PoE lacks is a bit of a story, if they can indeed write then it shouldn't be a problem.

The reason as to why I prefer this game is due to it's skill system and Artstyle/Graphics, it reminds me of Arcanum, Planescape and so on. D3 graphics and artstyle are extremely cartoonish and too colorful, it pays homage to WoW.

As for the stats nobody knows just how many people will buy it. But it will be successful that's for sure. You really can't compare a game that was good by previous predecessors and good previous developers (That no longer work on Blizzard).

D3 will sell a lot no doubt... for a lot of reasons.
But, PoE will thrive anyway, its a solid game. The developers seen to know what they are doing.
Just look at the fantasy MMO market... do we have more or less fantasy MMOs than before WoW launch?
Now, if the question is, will PoE go mainstream and dominate ARPG market? Not a chance in Hell (or Nightmare, Inferno or any other dificulty setting).
If the question is: Will it be successfull?
For that, all signs so far are saying yes.
Many thanks to fantazmat for the beta key!
I already tell all my PC gamer friends about POE.
I had already lowered my expectations for d3, and blizzard in general once the LOD expansion came out. Back in d2 stress test beta the game was simple, balanced and without lame mf runs and 1 day 0-80 rushes. Throw in some lame uber items and replace pvp with "brb with my better char".

They have been cooking up virtual crack via uber items, grind, no pvm skill required and crap pvp thanks to these crack items. PKing? forget it, all newbs need is a town portal and you can avoid player interaction all together.

I hadn't even tried WoW because I knew that they had applied what they learned in d2, making a newb addicting crack game.

All the predictions here for D3 are conservative.

D3 will sell more than 5 million at the first month. And PoE will never, ever, have more active members than D3.

D3 will have at least 2 expansions priced around $40-$50. Will make a lot of money with the real money auction house fees and will get from each D3 player an average of $90 on the course of 10 years ( from the game, expansion and money transactions)

In 5 years time D3 will have reached 30million different players at least.

D3 will have more than 3m sale at first day (including pre-orders, brick stores and digital version).

Now , I do think the developers of PoE are better game designers, know more what the community wants, and deserves more than D3. But facts are facts... D3 will be a juggernaut simply by brand name and marketing.

I do prefer PoE than D3. What we as fans of PoE must do is do our part and spread the world about PoE as soon as it goes open beta. Spread trought forum, youtube, live streams, forum boards. And put our love for this game to work, otherwise this game has no chance of sucess.
Make your part!

And is futile to compare the sucess of this game with D3, because even if we all did our part and spread the word that PoE is better than D3 , we would still fall short of impossible expectations.

But remember the D3 sucess will not mean the demise of PoE, because there still much room on the Online ARPG scene, player from D3 will look for new things and a free game like PoE will atract many new players because is free.

The only thing that matters is that PoE will be considered by some (perhaps you) way better than D3.

If you are one of those, relax and enjoy.

Are you kidding me?

Even Call of Duty games don't reach 30 million players.

I'd estimate 7 million at the most.
Though my army lies in ruins today... I have not done fighting. And I will remember who my enemies are...
