How PVP can become a main attraction
Thanks, I'm glad you do too!
Anyway, nothing's stopping them from doing their job. I think they can make everything about their game great, not just most of it. Lavender or Leave. PvPresident, 2016 // You'd better run. “EA is fine” -relith Last edited by I_am_Upset#2098 on Aug 27, 2017, 3:08:14 PM

" It s not so hard tho, just remember there is already pvp scaling different than pve scaling. All they have to do is actualize it ( most of it is stuck from 1.3 patch) But do they have the wish to take 2-3 office days for doing a pvp round up of all the skills since 1.3? I don t think so, they are too busy counting MTX dollars :) Forum pvp https://www.instagram.com/critterspencils/ Last edited by lolozori#1147 on Aug 27, 2017, 3:09:23 PM

PvP is completely and utterly broken in this game. Before any PvP suggestions could be reasonably implemented, they would have to completely remake the PvP part of this game. And since only a small minority really cares about PvP in this game, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Right, but the only reason people don't care for PVP is BECAUSE it's so utterly broken. If they could make major fixes to PVP and actually stay on it, people might give a shit about it. I see Sarn Arena just filled to the brim with players when the leagues end, and it's a sight that makes me happy, because PVP can be fun, especially when there's an incredible amount of build diversity, and no one player can ruin it all by being unkillable and one-shotting everyone.
The fact that GGG made balances to PVP during the 1.3 updates makes me think they can do it again, yet the fact that they haven't just leaves me so jaded about the state of POE, to the point that I don't even want to give them more money until the base game is fixed, and we've come down from the major power creep that was Ascendancy and on. I want to know that any and all amounts of money that I give them are going to go to fixing the game mode that gave my main character a second chance at the game altogether. Lavender or Leave.

No, they stopped working on PvP because enough people didn't give a shit, not the other way around. They pretty much explicitly said that.

" No. The main reason why people don't care for PvP is because it is marketed as a PvE game. The fact that PvP is broken (and that part of the community is so toxic) simply makes them that much less likely to try the PvP minigame a second time. " GGG already made heavy efforts to give PvP a chance, and failed to get good results with it. Now, any market study would show that there is very little return on investment you can get from spending more resources on that part of the game, so GGG made the smart choice of pulling the plug on it. I wouldn't even be surprised if I discovered the already little amount of resources they still put on PvP weren't worth return they get from it. What I'm trying to say is that GGG could indeed probably improve PvP so that its community grows, but the amount of resources required would be much higher than what would be gained. And even if they did break even with it, those resources would still not have been spent on much higher return projects. |

" I take their words with a grain of salt every now and then. I personally think it was just a bunch of whiny fucks who were mad that the spotlight wasn't on them for a change. I dunno, maybe is true. I just can't help but view it negatively. And yea, Tremere, I know WHO you're talking about when it comes to toxicity, but that, for some reason, only represents a very small amount of PVPers, most of whom are shunned by those of us who take PVP somewhat seriously. My experiences in PVP have largely been positive, and I've learned a lot more about the game from my time in PVP than I have from any of my time in maps. All I want is for more people to have that as well. The "resources" thing, I'm not too sure about. PVP is a small aspect of the game, and I can see the resources being needed for it being very minimal, but maybe that's just my view of it. Whatever it was that made DII's PVP somewhat successful, sure wish we could get ahold of it. Lavender or Leave.

" My guess would be that D2 had a very limited amount of available end-game builds (and those builds were fairly accessible to players that got to end-game). Plus, griefers were being asses by killing new hardcore players, rather than regular PvP. Finally, there wasn't a lot of end-game stuff to do. |

" It was very simple: a private rule set with banned items, skills and other limiting stat rules and a player made websites with a ladder board. And im not talking about public shit pvp like pvp1111 games. But the toxic pvp community in this game is too stubborn, dumb, have too big egos to accept any rules so they keep living in their toxic cesspool they created for themselves and feel good inside the dirt, toxcity and shit. I think PVP is pretty broken ATM.
Being a phys character sucks because stuff like immortal call exists which is absolutely broken from a PVP perspective. Being invulnerable to all phys damage for a short period of time is enough to decide the winner of a duel easily. I think in order to balance PVP, we would have to see the game's difficulty toned down in order to reduce the power of skills. Maybe something like immortal call then could be nerfed to something like 'Reduces oncoming phys damage by 50%' instead of immune to phys. |
