Death's Oath is still fundamentally flawed

To be honest, all u need on that Aura to affect it is Void Manipulation (green) and Inc Area/Conc Effect (blue)

Depending on what u intend to socket onto the plate as a skill to share these two gems is another issue.

I think u should be able to drop 3 Blues and luck out on a green, but the other last two might be red, and depending on the skill u intend to socket, it could work out.

I think something like Inc Duration and Abyssal cry? Iunno.

as far as i know only 3 gems work, 2 blue and 1 green so as anoying as it can be is doable, what drives me nuts is how to build around it, i must be missing something


the armor is clearly for life and since you wont be able to leech, regen is your best bet. this makes you want to go to the marauder/duelist area, Problem is all the chaos damage nodes, good aura boosters and over time damage boosters are on the witch - shadow area...

if i pick the witch-shadow area the char will have a realy hard time staying alive with the little life in that area, if i go the other side i wont be getting enought damage out of it

build enabling unique on a lv 66 base dosent encourage its use either. dont know, wish the concept was reworked to fit a lower ar/es armor but with better scaling as the char levels up

I theorycrafted 2 types of build for this armor 15 days ago (before vacation). One CI and one life based and i have to say it's way better to go for CI if you wanna build around it because you just can't get enough life in witch/shadow area to make it work if you pick all the dmg nodes that boost aura (aura/damage over time/chaos damage nodes. As for the gems -yea it sucks that it can be supported only with inc aoe, conc eff, void manipulation (2 blue +1 green gems) and they said efficacy is currently bugged but will be fixed in the upcoming patch (patch came out and they didn't fix it so i guess they will do it in the next one). That is 3 blues + 1 green which is already enough off colors so we need to put here 2 red gems unless we get insane 5 off colors on the armor. I came to conclusion that it is just fine with 4 off and 2 reds as we can put abyssal cry (which stacks with profane bloom nice) + less duration for more dmg boost (or inc duration for more duration but i think 3 sec on less duration is just fine for packs) and not waste a single slot in the armor. I didn't play much so i'm just like around lvl 50 but i will try to push this char to 90+. Another thing to boost aura dmg is ofc spell totem +whiter setup and to use Blight with new awesome threshold jewel Spreading rot(limited to 2) for 50% inc chaos dmg taken on enemies. Ez pseudo 6l blight is possible with new gloves Allelopathy. That's all i could figure out to build around death's oath after many hours of theorycrafting. Will see how it works out later in endgame. unless you get some GG items with the new ES values not having an ES chest is plain suicide


i tried some full str build with doon cuebiyari to boost its damage and it could quicly kill any normal-blue mob that got close but thats mothing special, even less so on a skill with rather small aoe.

Well tbh i aim for 7-8k depends on es roll on items which is fine since we will have also some amount of armor, fortify and arctic armor or enfeeble and mitigation flasks. Its just not worth to go for str on this build - only 180 for armor requirement. Use breath of the council for 100% chaos dmg instead. Also remember you have to take every aura node (aoe and dmg).

Getting 7k+ ES without the chest piece providing any... Well, good smegging luck on that nowadays.

As far as Death's Oath goes, the only 2 support gems that boost its damage are Concentrated Effect and Void Manipulation. Other gems that have useful impact on it are Increased AoE, Item Rarity, and Item Quantity.

Technically it can be supported by Faster Casting but that has no functional effect on it.

Efficacy would be nice to have for it but I'm not holding my breath.

the reason why i picked doon is becouse over 800 str doon damage boost will surpass breath of the council and with the int/dex to str jewels is posible to get those aura boosters and stack a lot of str in the process, pathing trhow that area will make the build starve of % increased life nodes but is better than having to depend on ultra GG ES item to compensate the lack of ES chest.
