The Atlas system is still hot garbage and a way to fix it
|
From the 3.2 patch notes:
" Pro: You can advance in the Atlas now while skipping maps and are about half as screwed as you would have been before this change (2/9 chance for the map to drop now instead of the old 1/8 chance, assuming 8 possible maps of that tier). As the math shows (1/1 chance in that example turning into 2/9), you're still very badly screwed if you skip ahead, though. Con: This does nothing to make getting drop-only maps easier if you're trying to grind them before progressing to the next tier. The grind to get a specific map will still be absurdly long sometimes. It's clearly a positive change for players who skip ahead. At the same time, it doesn't come remotely close to justifying skipping ahead. The punishment for doing so is still far too brutal. My mapping will not change at all due to this change. Getting the first of any drop-only map still sucks. Without trading, unlocking the Atlas is still incredibly unpleasant. Skipping ahead in tiers still sucks hard and still vastly reduces your chances of getting the maps you skip to drop in the future. Thanks for trying to fix the Atlas, GGG. Please don't stop trying. You didn't get there this time. |

I havent traded for a single map in years and enjoyed getting from 0 atlas to 154 atlas
in abyss. you just need to invest time and currency in maps. kinda like older days. I like. |

Honestly, I just can't anymore. This incredibly shitty experience is still frustrating and terrible in so many easily fixable ways, yet you continue to do nothing to fix the problem. In addition, you added more shitty things that completely fuck the game and necessitate trading to get around. I finally unlocked all white maps after RNG kicked me in the balls repeatedly and found out sextant unlocks are gated behind fucking unique maps. Fucking really, GGG?!
I just uninstalled. Again. Hopefully I can kick the fucking addiction this time. Fix your damn game, GGG. It's shit. Last edited by Jennik#1783 on Mar 6, 2018, 8:16:54 PM

Early bump so you can hopefully fix this by next league. The Atlas has been ruining POE since its introduction. It's long past time to fix that problem.

You did not fix this. It's still dog shit. This league I played up to tier 5 (unlocked/farmed everything drop only up to Phantasmagoria) before I uninstalled. It was no less cancerous this time around.
I love a lot of the tier 2 maps. Whoever you have in charge of crafting maps designed some really cool ones. You know which maps I played, though? Fucking Flooded Mines. I ran that piece of shit, stupidly dark map with a cancerous layout something like 15 times, mostly chiseled and Zana'd with Invasion or Warbands for extra quantity. Why would I play that shitstain of a map so much? Well, because I fucking have to in order to farm two (FUCKING TWO!!) drop only maps. What the fuck, GGG? I love Arid Lake. I ran that map once. Desert's a fun map with a cool new boss. Ran once. Those are also both outdoor maps so I can actually see the fucking monsters, which is a nice bonus. Alleyways? Once. Pen? Once. I actually ran Marshes three times (whoa!), but that's because it has the other fucking drop only map I needed to farm. Zero of the tier 2 maps I ran were run because I actually wanted to play that map. Every single one was run out of necessity, either for the unlock or to farm drop only maps. Your game has a ton of variety, GGG. Let us experience that variety instead of forcing us to grind the same shit over and over and over and over and over again for those goddamn drop only maps. It's still the dumbest shit in the game. |

real question is: "why is ggg preventing players from accessing content which is appropriate to their level"?
if the answer is: "cause it would be too easy to get your hands on high level rewards", the solution is very easy: just have higher level map areas drop items with an itemlevel according to the level of weakest player accessing it. old suggestion, really. let players run hard content but reward only their real character's progress. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
