didnt the autobombers rely a lot on the base crit chance they got from assassin power charges that have been gutted now?

i definitely see some use for this item apart from auto-bombers, but i'm sure that's the only build people currently see in it though

Boem, no, not at all. Patches come and go. Metagame shifts are things that happen. I am happy with this item's niche (and, as you say, it need not only be used for auto-bombing) and my impression is that it intrigued the imaginations of a sizeable portion of the players who commented on it.
I'm very happy to see that -- because it means players will be tinkering with it for the foreseeable future. And that is all I wanted. Have you made a cool build using The Coming Calamity? Let me know!

It certainly seems like an interesting item.
Apart from the aforementioned autobombers, I've always considered heralds as support for another skill, a pseudo-support gem or threshold jewel but with this a player might support their herald/s to make them a viable source of damage. Maybe a character using Ice Spear could support Herald of Ice so that it provides pack-clearing area damage? I haven't really thought about it much. " ES could be a bit higher but it looks a very strong item, if i was playing standard i would have made a build with it for sure. For HC and new league it looks too risky to me. |

Can't say I'm a fan of autobombers but this looks like an interesting item.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Interesting.
But as posted above - but not clearly answered - what happens when you use this chest and Essence worm with a herald in it? Which of the 2 lines "Socketed gems reserve no mana" and "Heralds reservation is always 45%" takes precedence? They seem mutually exclusive so they can't both apply, right? "Metas rotate all the time, eventually the developers will buff melee"
