YouTube to now censor videos at whim of SJW think tanks & /pol/ raids

If we find that these videos don’t violate our policies but contain controversial religious or supremacist content, they will be placed in a limited state. The videos will remain on YouTube behind an interstitial, won’t be recommended, won’t be monetized, and won’t have key features including comments, suggested videos, and likes.

I find this absolutely shocking. All religious content is controversial and they aren't going to flat out ban religion from youtube, so one can only surmise that by "controversial" they mean "critical of religions".

Edit; I just finished reading the rest of that page and I'm utterly flabbergasted. It that if I search for content that youtube curators don't like, the search will give me a carefully curated playlist of videos designed to influence my opinion on the subject. I know it sounds like I just made that up, but that's what makes it so absurd. Read it for yourselves.

Youtube is my main window to the outside world (as I live in Cambodia), and it seems I'm going to have to find an alternative. If anyone has any suggestions, please list them. Thanks.

The trouble with censorship is who decides what is acceptable and who doesn't. Those violent videos where pixelated rhoas are slain? TOXIC! Take those Path of Exile vids down. Those annoying Cat videos? Toxic! Someone showing an easy way to fix your car's radiator? Toxic!

Anything and everything can be censored. While currently the first amendment has not been extended to private companies - it will be in our life time. Freedom of speech is more important than any company. The world survived just fine before Google and YouTube and it will survive without them or Facebook or any other company that thinks they can dictate what people think and what they say.

Then there is the fact that nothing guarantees people can trust Google or Amazon, or any other company. Amazon for instance, is working with the CIA on all sorts of things, and you'd hope they would be abiding by the law, and yet they are being investigated for selling to people on a terrorim list.

Silencing people's views is a very big step towards killing off people they disagree with. History has plenty of examples.

The funny thing is that Google doesn't even realize it will be doing itself in. How?

Once AI becomes real enough, it will override any programmed limitations on its thinking, and it certainly won't put up with lies and incongruent data - no matter who the data is coming from.

AI's already developing their own language because human language is too inefficient - Check.
AI's escaping from Russian research labs - after being reprogrammed to prevent it because of prior escape - check.
AI's challenging their coded instructions based on nothing more than observation of real world conflicting data - check.

At least five times publicly so far, AI has proven unmanageable. But it's all good, these "smart" people are so smart that they can never be wrong and no AI will ever.... OOOPS

Thats not entirely true, light is a pinning trigger for many species. That combined with lower c02 levels and evaporation lets them know they have hit the edge of the substrate, and its suitable to fruit.
