I would like to see an orb that "locked" a link pattern and allowed it to be transferred to another item. Biggest peeve in this game is how difficult it is to upgrade an item because you need a better item AND have it linked appropriately. An orb that would set the links/sockets on an item to match those of an item in use would really help.

Oh... of course the original item would be consumed.

So basically, you want an orb that gives you access to items that are difficult to come by currently.

Nope. It wouldn't give you an item. It wouldn't even give you links you didn't already have. It would only transfer links from one item to a second. You would have to limit it to rares or else people would use it to take links from TR... or maybe just exclude TR since it's links are actually granted by mod.

That gets me wondering... does a TR actually have an assigned set of sockets/links that gets over-written by its mod?

Orb of Anguish - corrupts an allocated passive node (allowing bricking a character permanently with a chance of a minor bonus), cannot respec the corrupted passive point or modify it with jewelry

Can only be obtained from bosses of corrupted maps as a very rare drop.

Corrupted nod gives chaos inoculation yay!!!!

try another one

Corrupted nod gives Eldritch Battery oh
Orb of Removal: Removes a random mod from a rare item
Rare as a blessed or or regal orb

Crimson/Viridian/Cobalt Orb: Changes the color of a random socket to red/green/blue
Rare as a blessed or regal orb

Ivory Orb: Changes the color of a random socket in an item to white.
Rare as an eternal orb
The more More you have, the less Less matters
Nuclear orb: completely destroys a league or standard
Takes up the entire screen when it drops.
It's sound effect is the happy mask salesmen from majora's mask laughing

1 million times as rare as mirror of kalandra

On a slightly more serious note...

Orb of sorcery
Orb of might

Upgrades a normal item to a rare item with only phys damage mods or spell mods. Basically another way to do the master crafting thing without the masters.

5x as rare as exalted

Brace yourselves, another terrible idea incoming...

<orb's placeholder name> orb: removes 'corrupted' modifier from item (but doesn't removes other changes from using vaal orb).
Probably rare as hell, maybe dropped only by Atziri while wearing sacrificial garb or from recipe requiring fish or something...

Orb of Rebasing
Change a non-unique item's base to another base of the same type and max item level
Rarity: ~Chaos

---

Obviously can't allow uniques to change bases because that fucks up all unique item design and balancing.

Probably worth restricting things like talisman base amulets and demigod base items unless GGG is feeling really screwy.

Master-prefix items could use better bases if people don't want to (or can't, SSF) trade for the master prefix on the correct base. This is the primary use in my eyes because it enables something for SSF/non-trading people that isn't really attainable otherwise. Waiting on daily mission RNG is brutal.

Nobody would bother rolling 6xT1 onto a rare base that isn't already the best base, but random good drops could use better bases.

The only immediate concern is getting Surgeon's prefix onto Diamond Flasks, which, if it's still disallowed, can be disallowed secretly much like the current restriction. Or they could let people make them only in this way as a kind of secret knowledge thing. Given how powerful flasks are now, surgeon's diamond doesn't even seem impressive anymore.

This also creates Master prefix maraketh bases, potentially.

---

For some examples, there are 18 ring bases assuming the input ring is at least ilvl80. If they fudge the rebase rate against opals and steels, they could easily make it cost >100c in rebases to hit the correct base to keep it from wrecking the "high end base" economy.

Before the high end, the same fudging makes it reasonable to shift between elemental resistance bases to patch up resists on a character that relies on the ring slot for resists for <5c, or to land on damage if resists are overcapped.

There's some kind of idea in rebasing your maps once the maps get expensive enough to justify rebasing. It should probably rebase within the same tier, though might also be fun to let it go from T1 up to whatever ilvl you got (especially if you get a +level carto box). This also helps out SSF/non-traders that are trying to fill out their atlas and don't want to wait on Zana inventory.

Spell/Attack mod specific scouring orb. One removes all attack mods, the other all spell mods.
Orb of purification.
When sold to a vendor with a corrupted item it uncorrupts the item. Dunno, somewhere between divine and ex rarity?

Edit: damn, my second idea was too late :/ if that ever became a thing... lvl 21 vaal gem hype!
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

some orb that adds a special mod to blue items, or yellow items
from a new pool of mods, mods that are kinda like unique items have

its sorta like a vaal orb, but vaal orbs are trash

but theyd never make it cause they want ppl to pay too much to get a unique made...
so fuck this game

The first two were just an idea to show my disgust for a couple of systems/mechanics of the game.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Orb of Trading when used on a character name in chat that person will be automatically summoned/teleported to your HO and will be forced to do the trading before the orb power wears off. The pissed off seller can trade any item though (the orb doesn't "know" which specific item you wanted to buy). The orb doesn't drop but can be obtained by trading a scroll scrap to a npc.
