i almost guarentee it was chaos damage. I have max FR and take nothing from fire mobs. Highlight the mob next time and verify for sure if it does or doesn't say anything about "deals chaos damage"

Whether or not you can dodge has no bearing on the effectiveness of resists when you do get hit.


Sure, but I'd argue that most of the hits that resists aren't effective against are hits you're *supposed* to dodge or die to.


These aren't super attacks from bosses here. Regular monsters spam triple fireball endlessly. As melee you aren't able to slay that monster without getting hit by fireballs. Resistances are the stat you stack that are supposed to make it possible for you to do that. If they don't do that, they become worthless.

You can also argue the same for armor. Some hits in the game are meant to hurt regardless of your defenses. I think we already know that this isn't your usual tank-and-spank type ARPG. GMP mobs and ones that explode on death can probably kill you.



Beware the overuse of one hit kills and purely stat based challenges. People don't like putting a hundred hours building a character only to walk into a room and immediately drop dead. That sort of game play is what drives a lot of players away. Players who put a lot of effort into this game want there to be a point they can reach where they are stronger than the majority of the content. If such a point doesn't exist then the leveling aspect of the game loses most of its value.

actually its completely the opposite. If there is a point where you can simplly faceroll everything ingame with ease (aka D3) then people get bored and quit.

The way mechanics are designed in PoE there will always be a challenge for you, hardcore will *always* be hardcore, it doesnt get watered down to cakewalk softcore when you reach a certain power threshold.

As for the GMP fireball spam, people are exaggerating. I have 77 fire resist, 2k HP and 1K ES, and i take fireballs from the mobs at bottom of lunaris temple on a regular basis tanking them on my witch while i kill them with firestorm (and proceed to raise them as spectres).

If your talking about PvP instead, 1HKO's are an absolute must unless you want every fight to boil down to an endurance match of flasks and natural regen/kiting.

you're trying to tell me that multi projectile rare dogs don't even dent your HP ?
I call bs on OP. I'm at 3k health and 75% to all resistances but chaos, I've yet to be one shot by elemental damage. Not even in maps where mobs do xx% damage as cold/fire/lightning.
Either it was flammbility, chaos combined with fire damage or OP is exaggerating.
