The Death of double dipping in the Fall of Oriath

Its very likely once they remove double dipping they will buff poison and ignite to pre-nerf values. I'm also hoping they condense chance to ignite and burning damage support gems into a single gem. I'm playing an oro's flicker strike elementalist. I get a free elemental proliferation at no damage penalty and even then I would never use either of those 2 support gems. They are just trash when compared to other options.

Finally, i love giant shifts in balance, since that always freshens up the meta. It will force people to think a bit again about their builds, and not just slap a poison gem onto everything anymore.

Right 90% of the builds were just about how to doubledip, and either transform the dmg to fire/burn or chaos/poison.

Cant wait to see what 3.0 brings us in build diversity.

And also, HOORAY for the new bosses designs. It seems at least a bunch of what i was hoping for was considered in boss design. Props to the devs if the fights work well.

Wow, nice to see someone else excited for sweeping changes. Seems like everyone else can't wait to cry either

omg my unique snowflake standard build! if you change this by even one dps I quit!!!!

or

league players who play the same thing every league and don't want to be bothered to go look up a new guide threatening the same.

Finally the game can be balanced around double dipping not existing. Right now there's a huge power gap. Now we only need rebalancing of life/es armor/ev then the game is good to go.

Well first we have to see how they fix double dipping, and if they actually fix other mechanics to actually make them viable.

As for fixing life/es armor/ev, i have a bad feeling ES will be getting nerfed, and the rest is exactly where they want them. Sadly i feel they want us to have to use ALL our points going all around the board getting life, and only using a couple for offense we can get on the way. Its horrible and broke as shit, but i think thats the way they want it sadly.

Yeah, I have a couple of desires for the balancing.

I want ci to still be good, I want there to be a good range of worth while builds that function in high end content for ci.

I want an end to vp leech facetabk bosses.

I want some elemental spikes like vol blood to be addressed.

After that Im not too bothered tbh, they can just shake the game up as much as they see fit. I think weve gone a good amount of time now with a fairly safe, static balance situation, its about time for some big meta shifts, some new doors to open up. I think its exciting.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I guess I'm a bit more of an anarchist than you. I don't really care what they do to CI. Volatiles...probably should be nerfed a bit at top end and just be a revenge mechanic - hits you with the damage no matter where you are (still checks for dodge/block or w.e it does now).

Agree on face tanking bosses with that combo specifically. Facetanking with insane damage kind of trivializes the genre. That's where my line is I guess. I'm ok with facetanking as a concept if it requires the right kind of investment, which is to say defense at the cost of offense.

Good riddance to double dipping, like shotgunning before it.

Now the only major mechanics that still need work (read: removal) are:
- Instant leech
- Elemental status tied to crit
- Spammable movement skills
- Strictly vertical gear progression after mapping starts

I expect all of that'll be good around PoE 8.0, The Rise of the Fall of the Sacrifice of the Atlas of the Vaalsoulheartland.
