Remove xp loss on death, replace with xp bonuses for surviving
" Oh, I feel you about the Bog Rhoa, but I find him to be a question of DPS check, hell, he's manageble if you leech enough and hit hard enough - 101 "Sponge tactics" - my Crit builds are having a shorter duration to fight him, while my trusty RT just focuses on "ROFL STOMP" by having positive Chaos resistance, enough damage and sturdiness... If the boss would give xx rares worth of EXP from the total gained on map, that would be a cool compromise and might make players to not overlook the boss... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Obviously did not read entire thread, but would like to add my voice to the removal of xp loss on death.
It adds nothing to the game, except to make the game more grindy and punish players for trying to enjoy all the content that has been added to the game. I don't see any need to add a bonus for surviving. Surviving means you are able to play the game without interruption. Dying means you have to respawn and run back to where you were, or have to restart the Labyrinth or possibly fail a mission. That is enough of a penalty without taking xp away. If the game was more polished and didn't like to throw difficulty spikes at you all the time, it might not be such a big issue. |

" In no world is that enough penalty and it's hilarious that you think it is. That is inconsequential and would cheapen the whole game and makes deaths meaningless. Don't even try telling me a 5 second interruption when you're mapping matters at all. This whole thread is pretty amusing when reaching 100 has never been easier. So if i had several characters during year that were over 77 lvl but i deleted them then i cannot talk about xp penalty?

goetzjam, my xp loss per death is currently 10%. I'd say it started hurting at around 5%.
A few times I've had to kill a boss to progress, and my options were to grind on stuff that is really low level, or repeatedly through myself at the boss and kill it with my death count. Losing experience just makes the situation worse. Sometimes I have had to chose between having fun or grinding for levels. Not a good situation. kasub, If I'm mapping I've also lost one of the map portals to dying. So no, the 5 second interruption doesn't matter, however that really depends on how far away I left the portal. Why does dying need to matter anyway? Will the universe implode if I'm not punished for dying? I could just stay away from all the neat content in the game or even not play the game. Then there would be no deaths. |
