A lot of players have this weird, narrow, old fashioned idea about "what an ARPG is" and "what belongs in an ARPG".

It's very fortunate that something like Borderlands comes along once in a while to show that the basic formula doesn't also have to be a Diablo 2 carbon copy to succeed.

Hell, even Shadow Warrior 2 did well with this grindy spirit. But like with Borderlands, there is nothing to do after completing the game. Too bad there is no games like PoE with such rich endless endgame :/

Dunno about Shadow Warrior, but you can farm raid bosses for pearl weapons and class mods in Borderlands, it has about as much endgame as most classic ARPGs out there. It's also about the business model, it's a relatively recent trend that the devs actively try to keep you playing titles that aren't live-online-only so they could sell you skins and whatnot, there was no real need for an extensive endgame before.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

We get nazi's, but remove our globe girls.

Smh tbh fam.

We didn't get them yet but it's still really sketchy move by GGG to show such concept art.

RIP Globe Girls :/ This was such a shame. Specially considering that we still have a lot of similar stuff everywhere in PoE. Look at female NPC Traders (you can barely see Nessa's bra or Yeena's loincloth xD), good old antique statues or this shameless miscreations in Lunaris Temple.

The Nazi allegory that GGG is adding as content is: boring, trite, generic, passe, overdone, completely unoriginal, tired, lame, immersion-breaking, et al.

But hey it might attract some Stormfront gamers, Drumpfettes and all the different types of 13 year old anti-SJW parrots and pepe-frogs...what's not to like.

Triggered responses in 3, 2, 1....LOL!

Aside, I would have liked borderlands, if not for bullshit of monsters with level too high being pretty much immune to your damage (unless you are closer to their level).
the game is too easy and forces you to be in certain areas at a time.
story quests aside, I find that pretty bad design for what was supposed to be an open world game.

Oh and fuck those bots, whatever their name was. Most annoying things in existence

That's just the thing I liked, killing monsters above your level 1 damage at a time was the best thing ever :)

Modern open world games that scale everything to your level are more awkward to me, nothing drives character progression in like being able to do something you couldn't before. It made me remember games like Maight&Magic series where you'd do a low level playthrough and take 20 minutes to kill one death knight or a minotaur.

Eh, I did it once and that was enough. Dont get me wrong, I didnt want to do great damage, but I wanted there to be a better designed difference.
If i remember correctly it was like at 5 lvls difference and above any damage is reduced to 1.
That means that automatic weapons are the only good ones against such mobs, the rest of the gear becomes pretty much 100% useless or at least not worth the use at all.
I dont want no damage penalty either, I understand your point. What I'd like is either a better built armour/res system or tiered damage penalty depending on level.
Just reducing everything to 1 cause of mere 5 lvl difference is very lazy design. I'd expect maybe a 10+ level above me UNIQUE monster to take 1 damage, not every little dude and their mother. Lazy lazy lazy. Cannot defend it.

Sure, I can agree with that, I like the concept much more than their execution.

The setting game is a dream. They can do what ever the hell they want and still pull it off as "lore".
not really.
majority of the game has a cohesive setting and there are tons of setting that would look cringe worthy if introduced. there are hard limits that depend on the previous acts. like, pretty sure there won't be spaceships lasers airplanes.

or that we won't see a modern day metropolis with cars or skyscrapers.

so no, existing setting actually limits the setting quite a lot.

reminds me when heroes of M&M decided to put the forge town/faction in the game for the homm3 expansion. M&M universe has this blend of fantasy and scifi but homm universe never did. yeah that didn't go too well with homm fans and they scrapped the idea altogether adding conflux (also sucked) instead.
