Buying new PC, need advise :) What is your PC configuration?

I'm currently sitting at my old desk, but the one i'll be getting in march, is:

Phanteks Evolv, mATX, antracit grey.
The new Ryzen, Zen Cpu (equivalent to the 7700k price range one)
Kraken X62 AIO cooler.
Msi, AM4 support mobo, preferable black/red look.
Msi 480 Rx 8Gb,
G.Skill RipjawsV DDR4-3000 C15 DC - 16GB (Cpu prob won't support more than 2.6-2.7k, but i had these laying around).
My older Corsair HX1050 Gold modular PSU.
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5'' HDD (just for random crap)
1 x 120gb samsung pro, for my windows 10 and gpu drivers and such.
2 x 250 850 Evo's in raid 0 for games and such.
Front fan replaced by: 2 Corsair ML140 PRO LED white, 140mm fans.
Windows 10 pro (got it cheaper than home, lol).

I play PoE on:

CPU
________________________________________________________________________________
Model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Logical cores : 8
CPUID : GenuineIntel family 6, model 2A, stepping 7
Tjmax : 98°C

GPU1
________________________________________________________________________________
Display device : GeForce GTX 970 on GM204-A GPU
Display driver : 376.33
BIOS : 84.04.36.00.0b

CPU you mentioned is good. Dont buy 970 but rather 1060 as its a bit cheaper and some games gets upt o 10% more fps.

Dont buy AMD. Intel in strategy games gain 30% boost. I saw even 50% but its rare. For other games (fps, dota) its quite similar.

Cooler choose by how loud it is and buy good pasta (preferably silver) to get max from your fan.

120gb SSD is enough for win7 + poe.

Power supply check test. Focus on stable power supply with or without load on cpu/gpu/componentns. Today many power supply are quality enough.

AMD dropping Ryzen in like 6 days. So almost all these builds are going to be "obsolete" by next week. I say wait for benchmarks on Ryzen and then ask the same question.

while i am definitely interested to see the "real life" benchmarking that will be coming out. i am definitely not holding out any high hopes that the Ryzen is hands down better at this time. i mean this is AMD we are talking about here. i really would like to see them make a come back....but its AMD.

meh DX12 is a mess right now even in the full microsoft games as i recall. vulkan, even though there are less games right now, is where the future is going to be imo.

I have an old PC:

Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4Ghz
GeForce GTX670 DirectCU II 2GB GDDR5
8GB RAM (now 16, but was playing with 8 for years)

Can play well enough solo. In party sometimes I got low FPS, but doable too.

If you're using Steam i do not recommend installing POE on a SSD due to the patch process.

Consider a small SSD for your OS+small Apps and a good and big HDD for the rest of your games/data(at least 7200 rpm).

Hello there, why not?
Im usng a SSD for PoE since years ago and loading when changing zones is a lot faster than before.
Can you explain why this is bad with steam patches?

Thank you very much.

2600k is better than the new ones for overclockers. I've been at 4.7 Ghz for like 5 years with no plans to get these new underperformers.

670 is like a gtx 1050 not bad at all. I'd say you're in top 5% of PC onwers still.

oh thanks, its from 5 years ago. Glad to know, I thought everyone got a higher machine now.

just subscribe to LiquidSky [..]

Holy shit, I just googled that. Does it really work?

of course it works. honestly its 100% what im going to do as soon as it gets out of beta, or i get accepted into the beta.

i just play on laptop and unlike desktops where you can just upgrade, laptops are much more restricting and it just turns out you'll need to buy a new $1500-2000 laptop every 3 years. or you can go with liquidsky and just use what you have but yet be able to play everything on high etc.

theres basically just two things you need. #1 fast internet (pretty sure most in the world have this now) and #2 a good screen that can project at minimum 1080p (which laptops do have). now you're rolling.

i can't wait to sign up for this and test poe on it. there have been people that have tested other games and reviews of the beta etc they say it works great.
Core2duo e7500, radeon hd7750, 4gb ddr2 ram, crappy hdd. Yeah, I play this game on a toaster, lol. But hey, it's still able to run it!

I'm a poor chap, someone donate me a new pc? :D
I Believe I Can Fly ~~~~
i7 6700k
GTX 1070
8 GB RAM
500 GB SSD

PoE runs fine.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
newbie here, why do you need SSD for poe?

No, you don't.
However, an SSD is one of those upgrades your whole computer experience will benefit from, so it is highly recommended.
