Trading Etiquette for New Players

Good advice, but I think that people who don't know how to trade also don't know about the existence of these forums.

True, but with any luck a new trader might google "how to trade" or "trade etiquette" and might stumble across threads like these.
This is great info. My biggest pet peeve is getting whispered "hi". Odds are, when you whisper me, I am trying not to get rekt by Atziri/Hydra/Whatever. Unless you are one of my friends, I'm probably not interested in chit-chat. It's not that I'm a jerk. I just have stuff to do. Send me the copypasta whisper message from poe.trade (and DO NOT ALTER THE PRICE), and wait for a response. It may take sellers a second to invite/respond.

I can't stress the "copy and paste the whisper message exactly from Poe.trade" part... I have too many tabs full of crap to be dealing with "WTB ur diamond ring" "which?" "the one with cold res"

get fucked
U MAD?

This. Please don't alter that message, and if you want to make an offer, do it in a separate whisper, not at the end of the initial one.

Hi, i want to buy your Cool Ring listed for 30c

Offer 20c

NOT

Hi, i want to buy your Cool Ring listed for 20c -- seller thinks that you are paying the listed price
or
Hi, i want to buy your Cool Ring listed for 30c in breach (stash tab "Sell") offer 20c -- can be easily missed and again seller thinks that you are paying the listed price
