" I called it the sphere grid for years! Nice to see someone else thought oh its FF X lol |

This game will be new player unfriendly even if you have a guide for them.

thx for your valuable input all. totally agree that there should be a fine line between spoon feeding and not giving any guidance at all. I am not an expert of course but I love this game and I want it to go well as all of you
hope GGG is already on it and we will see some great stuff coming out soon! have a good day all |

I think having a handbook that outlines the core principles of the game is very different from what some people here might think of as "user friendly". I think many equal "user friendly" to "dumbed down". In my opinion, that is not true. A game (or any software, home appliance, etc.) can be user friendly and at the same time deep.
Giving an introduction on how to do things, core concepts (like sockets, links, vendor recipes) and a pointer towards resources is not a bad thing at all and definitely not "spoon feeding". Bird lover of Wraeclast

" I can hardly believe that they've read guides/information about diablo 2, but refuse to learn anything about PoE the same way. Even so, then this is just not the game for them. |

" Completely true. I can't count the number of times that I've asked about some random piece of information on the forum and have gotten a helpful response within the day. Not to mention all the info there is in the wiki. |

" When you make PoE new player friendly you get Diablo 3. " This is just not the game you downloaded. There's tons of games that are all about ease of access, we don't need anymore. This is what separates PoE from the rest and makes the game so fun/great. Last edited by Ratedetar#0768 on Jan 4, 2017, 4:31:21 PM

If they are gamers at their core they should be used to googling how to do stuff in video games.

" not everyone has played D2. in fact most of the ppl even left playing D3 have never even touched D2. sad really... but there you have it. anyway thats not the point. more to the point here is that quite often people like to jump into a game and at the very least TRY to figure things out before "cheating". which by cheating i don't literally mean it in the strictest sense. its just that once you start looking up third party information, guides, help videos, gameplay, and so on then the game is no longer what it was suppose to be. you kinda know, more or less, almost everything because ppl already did it and since you looked it up it feels as if you cheeated yourself out of everything by learning about it. i mean grats you now can play the game "efficiently" but now you can never go back and get that new car smell back. PoE its kinda hard for some people to just go play at first. looking at the passive tree (as example) is like "wtf am i suppose to do with this monstrosity?". then you immediately go to google and look for help. im not saying this is necessarily a "good" idea..but it wouldnt kill GGG to put in a beginner build recommendation for people just starting out. where people starting their first character can click a "help me" button and it gives them help building a noob build and each point gives them a generic explanation. like for the int nodes it could say the same thing the stat actually does "int increases your mana and energy shield". you know? it doesnt have to be complicated. | |
" This is fine by me, i hate having my hand held and being spoon fed. I am lucky enough to have been raised in the golden age of gaming as i like to call it and i prefer that style of gaming and story-telling. I do not want an arrow pointing to where i should be going for example, i want directions and rough estimations where i should be going and i have to figure the rest out myself. As for other things in this game i rather not have everything laid out in stone for me and people should just stop being lazy and learn, games are way too easy now a days and it annoys me, i at least always make my games as challenging as possible and the ones that have mod support i make them the way i want and i feel much better that way with the challenges and rewards. PoE is fine the way it is. P.S. the only issue i seen from people i brought into the game was them all saying the same thing "The passive tree is confusing" but they all learned real fast on what they should be doing and i only said it was not hard once you learned and they should follow a build to learn and they did exactly that and are perfectly fine on the game (my dad included which i brought into the game this league and he is currently lvl60). |
