There is a lot of QoL recommendations listed there. Some are implemented. Maybe give GGG topic refresh? New ideas? etc.

Isn't that better than arguing here? Maybe GGG takes note this time. You never know.

Actually this is exactly how i looked at the game when i first started playing. And if you played both of those games alot it does make understanding the basics of this game skill wise and such much easier.

I have to look into the FF series... never caught my attention. Any advice for breaking into it so late in the game?

You talking FFXIV? It's an MMORPG that will have a monthly subscription like WoW...how is that surprising to you? Though if you wanted to get into other Final Fantasy games, you can always look for the single player ones that came out overtime like FF6, FF7, FFX (on Steam with the HD Remaster version that includes all of the International Release content that wasn't in the original American release) or others. But, will depend on where you want to start.

FFXIV is a subscription MMO, it flunked initially but then it made a comeback after they rehauled the game, which is kinda rare in the genre.

There are three distinct eras in FF history.
I to VI - old games with good storyline that look like ass, it would probably be hard to start there.
VII to X - the golden age of FF games. VII is probably the best place to start because it's kind of a quintessential game of the series, if you played that one you know what FF games are all about, and X is probably the last good classic FF game.
XI to XV - the crap that came after, two are MMOs, one is an MMO-ish single player game, one is junk and one is still too fresh to measure it well against the old ones.

The good thing is you can pretty much start anywhere, all of them are standalone games (asides from several direct sequels, like X-2) with two recurring motives.
