PoE.trade and Chris Wilson consipracy theory.
Chris Wilson has a secret partnership with the owner of Poe.Trade.
-Chris' side of the deal includes not coming out with any in game trading tools that would eliminate the need for poe.trade -PoE.Trades side of the deal includes giving Chris a large % of the ad revenue. Maybe even a higher % than what poe.trade profits. Chris has much more leverage in this deal than poe.trade. I disagree with the following sentiment, but there was a big outcry about PoE becoming "P2W" when premium tab upgrades came out . Chris wasn't expecting that, considering how much easier it made trading for most people. Chris realized that his plan to eventually bring an ingame trading platform would cost a lot of money and time for his group to develop, and more importantly it would bring a HUGE player loss. Why would it cause a huge player loss you ask? Well obviously GGG couldn't afford to make it free, so it would cost $, just like it costs $ to get premium tabs and "be able to trade". When the OMG I HAVE TO BUY PREMIUM TABS TO PLAY GAME PROPERLY P2W P2W I QUIT OMG crisis happened, there were many players defending GGG, the tabs and the idea of F2P. With the release of an in-game trading platform that would seemingly cost considerably more to the player than a premium stash tab, a lot of those players who previously defended GGG would switch sides. The feeling that GGG sold out would be much more contagious and powerful. Chris is a business man now, whether he likes it or not. Chris is a smart man. The owner of poe.trade is a smart man. What do smart, business owners do? They find ways to make more cash, and if increasing profits by means of deceiving and taking advantage of clueless customers, well thats not a sin, is it??? Chris figures that he stands to gain much more by a secret partnership with poe.trade, and at much less risk/upfront cost. Also worth noting in this conspiracy, most or everyone who works at GGG may not know Chris is doing this, and he has come up with excuses. Dude really it does NOT matter. At one point of time I thought they had dealing with RMT sites because of the way they dealt with legacy items.
I appreciate the careful approach to trading that GGG has. Trading can easily break the game and that was the case for me before they released trading enabled stash tabs. So leave the Conspiracy Theories aside and just play the game and have fun. Last edited by Sidad#4699 on Dec 25, 2016, 12:23:52 PM

I think Chris fixing streamer RNG is more plausible, but maybe that's just me.

OP, start writing books.
"World Plot"-books, detectives, or you can organize "personal growth seminars" (people would bite) Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it. Happiness requires effort. |

" Pretty sure this game has global account loot tables so while I don't think they can go in and give you a Shavs outright, they can increase the drop rate of specific BaseTypes. The clues are in how the structure of the items are laid out within the game itself. So they could go in and set a global 200% increase to currency or armour or maps for example. They may actually be able to do it on class too but now you're really having to bend the code but still pretty doable. If anyone has played on D3's PTR before, you can see what I'm talking about. Blizzard sets the drop rates of uniques to like +5000% so players can test the new changes on gear without having to actually grind for them. GGG are obviously tied in with PoET. And I've called this from the get go, but they'll probably buy out xyz, slap a coat of paint on PoET and then roll it into their own website in one of the upcoming phases of trade improvement. It makes more sense than making your own. Chris is probably weighing whether it's worth it financially. xyz does all the work now and makes some cash through ads to keep it running. And people are content with it. If they roll it into the fold, then they'll have to pony up the initial costs and the maintenance and upkeep fees as well. That's a big leap from basically having the service for free. It's also nicer for Chris to have it as a separate entity because if anything goes wrong with it or people get fed up, etc., he has no ties to it all and can tell players go gripe to xyz, GGG has nothing to do with PoET. As for the RMT sites, they probably can't do anything because the sites and servers are run out of Country. Places like India and China are notorious for housing criminal cyber activity that is basically impossible to touch unless you have like Apple style money and leverage. For a tiny outfit like GGG, you're better off just banning accounts and keeping the activity under control as best you can. Whether or not this theory is fact is debatable. What's not debatable is the symbiotic relationship between the two businesses. Each would fold without the other.

" That drop rate increase on the D3 PTR is quite obviously server wide not by account. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Melissa_GGG#0000 on Dec 25, 2016, 3:06:50 PM
