Jeweller's Orb is a joke!

Everything about crafting (gambling) on this game is a joke, a bad joke.
Dont even know why you feel the need to mention the quality. They said quality affects the chance to socket and link and nothing actually changed or improved. Same dumb shit as before.

Yep, I'm aware of the PoE Wiki. But while Arreat Summit is officially official, the PoE Wiki is not. It's (the PoE Wiki) filled with data people scrounged from reddit, forum posts and so on.
So imo there's a big difference between the Arreat Summit and PoE Wiki.

It's official enough that GGG links to it from the official site, and it fills the same purpose, so what does it matter that the information is entered by the community and not GGG employees? And since the wiki already exists, I don't see any significant gains from GGG duplicating the effort. Better that they spend their time on developing the game.

You'll also have to remember that in the year 2000 wikis were not yet popular, but now they are everywhere. That's simply the way things are now.

Granted, they allow curse to call themselves official wiki. And I don't have any problems with players entering data as opposed to GGG staff - but with the data that is entered. Naturally, we players don't have the means to get all the data.
Just as an example look up dominus: We have the information that is easily obtainable by playing, like that he has two phases, the skills he uses (whether or not the names given there are the actual names the developers use I cannot decide), and even his resistances (source? correct?). We don't know how many hitpoints he has (in total, phase 1, phase 2, in which difficulty) or how much damage he does or even exactly what kind of damage.

However, these are details. It would be nice to have them, but not totally necessary. The basics, however, as to how to use orbs, vendor recipes, ES vs AR vs EV and more are actually not that easy to get and are important to new players. The game has grown hugely since the open beta (or even release), stuff was added, stuff changed.
I was there all the time and know most of it - but coming as a new player it would be nice to have a manual describing basic stuff.

And, well, writing the documentation is part of developing software. I understand what you mean, though, and I partially concur.

Use The Master crafting benches, 70 Jewelers for 5 sockets + 150 Fuses for 5 link.

Doing the fusing and linking manually takes more than the number of licks to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Pop. Mind numbing senseless RNG crafting gambling crap shoot.

Just spent more than 30 Jeweler's Orb on a Lvl 48 body armor for 5 sockets but no luck -- Is this normal? FYI, my body armor has 20% quality upgrade. I thought higher quality should have a higher chance for more sockets?

Yes, it's easy to make that mistake. The first time I used jeweller's orbs I spent 6 for 6 sockets... and 6S items sell for 7 jewellers. So I did the math and the result was Profit!!!
I learned then that I was extremely lucky. :D

As Vipermagi told you, Vorici (at level 5 I think) takes 70 (I thought 75, but what's 5 more or less), so the average is slightly below that, which means, that because of statistics 40 to 100 can be considered normal. If you're lucky, you need only 1 - if you're unlucky, though, 3000 may not be enough (this is extreme and I don't know if ever anyone was so unlucky, but the math allows for it)

I once spent 700 jewellers to 6s an armor.. that was sad

Don't you guys think this is way too much? Wouldn't there be a need to eliminate such ridiculous extreme? But probably the reason they created Master Vorici was partly to address this problem though...

Yes, Vorici was introduced so people would have an option to play it safe. He will always ask 350 jeweller's orbs for a 6S. On the other hand you can't get lucky (like I did with my first 6S in 6 jorbs).
Same with 6L, which is even more ridiculous (the average is slightly below 1:1500, which is why Vorici 6Ls an item for 1500 fusings.)
