last time I played D3 they released a set that would deal 3000% of weapon damage. No jokes

I heard that they recently released sets that deal 32,000% of weapon damage but I might have dreamed that up

I'm afraid for this game, and the direction it takes. League after league, they guide players into this new META. I don't like it, but I can respect and understand it. They want to create something new, create some hype. Make players feel that they're doing something different.

They COULD balance it a little more, though true balance is close to impossible. They COULD focus on revamping under-powered skills. Under-powered classes. Under-powered defenses - to make the game more build diversity-friendly. But when the driving force is to create this new META, followed by new, overpowered skills and uniques, all other things becomes neglected.

But it is hope. They DID take something "old" and boring, and made something interesting out of it; golems. But things like "melee" and "life vs ES" have been neglected since before golems initially were introduced.

Y'know, it occurs to me though, that Blade Flurry only achieves 400% multiplier with perfect channeling. If you refuse to channel and instead spam click, it only outperforms every other melee skill by a few percent.

If word "entitled" isn't right in this situation then im sorry.

And it's not like i don't see any problems it's more like you dont understand that devs are not some type of programm. They cannot generate ideas out of thin air. They need time. Just wait for 3.0 for life/ES changes. As for melee there is some changes(shift-targeting/weapon range) it's already good step.

Based on my reading:

Kind of. It seems to be implying that the balance decisions GGG is making are band-aid-y, unhealthy for future game enjoyment long-term.

Rather than try to create a game where some things are good in some situations, bad in others, letting players go through the wonder of discovery and satisfaction of meaningful decision-making... GGG is just ratcheting power way up for some stats, kind of arbitrarily making them "obviously the best choice."

It's good short-term game design to give players new toys with more power, but awful long-term, because the new power gets normalized, and it becomes an arms race between players and monsters, "Monsters have been buffed," "Players have been buffed," and the power of a character is less in the hands of a skilled player and more in the hands of random waves of "balance" patches.

I mean, not everyone needs a sophisticated game. Some people enjoy fine wine, others enjoy McDonald's Cheeseburgers.

But POE in 2016 is not the game that it seemed to be in 2013.
