I would like to update it, but I have sold all of my gear on standard. Maybe if I can try to , but no promises.

As for the elemental overload and controlled destruction, yes using controlled destruction does hinder it but not by too much. You only need elemental overload to proc once 8 seconds = one crit every 8 second, which is very easy with magma orb and orb of storms hitting enemies.

I don't use burn because I would have to either 1) go crit, which would mean switch to assassin, and even then magma orb only has a measly 5% base crit chance, so it would require way to much investment. The other option 2) is to invest in ignite chance which would also require a lot of point and gear investment, so much that I thought going straight elemental would be better. As I am writing this I just realized I could have used the elemental focus gem for an insane damage boost. I think i will try to update this build soon.

Being that I am new, I'm not familiar with all the concepts.

A) For instance, everytime I hear someone talk about "burning/ignite dmg" the word CRIT is mentionned in the same sentence?! Is that because burning auto-triggers when a CRIT hit happens?

B) Elemental focus shows up as a corrupt gem. Is "elemental focus" gem only obtainable Through corruption ??

C) What are your thoughts about the "sire of shards" staff (the one that casts magma orb in a frost nova style)? I'm running it right now, because someone generously gave it to me as I had no decent 6l staff weapon, and I must say it clears really good (I'm in merciless act 3 atm)

D) You are using a fire golem and a lightning golem which require the "enlightment" gem. I have no idea what that gem does specifically (even when reading on wiki, I'm not quite sure how it works) Why not use a Cold golem instead of lightning? (curiosity)

A) If you crit with a spell, you automatically apply its ailment, ignite for fire, freeze for cold, and shock for lightning.

B) No, I use no vaal gems as they are called, the ones only available in vaal areas that are corrupt. I recommend reading up on what vaal orbs do if you use them on items and gems. In this case I used a vaal orb on(or "vaaled") my gems at the max level of level 20 in hopes they would turn to level 21 like my Magma Orb is. This is one of the things vaal orb can do.
EDIT: I just updated my build, and now sometimes swap in a Vaal Summon Skeletons against hard stuff, see explanation in main post.

C) See my response to gebboo in page 8. It is cool and fun, but not as efficient at clearing monsters. Further testing needed.

D) These golems do not require Enlighten, it is the auras that do(they dont require it but it is nice). My two auras together reserve 85% of my mana making only 15% usable. What Enlighten does is reduce the amount the auras reserved when linked to them, so linking a level 3 Enlighten makes them only reserve 78% of my mana, leaving 22% useable. I use a lightning golem over the cold golem because the lightning one gives 9% cast speed at level 20, whereas the cold golem crit chance(which I dont need), and increased accuracy(which only applies to attacks).

where do you put the inevitability jewels? It requires 40 int but all the slots I see on your tree doesn't have 40 intelligence around it. When do you put it in?

The threshold jewels have a medium radius, and no longer require that you allocate the attribute requirements(40 int in this case), just that there is enough in the radius. I put mine in the one closest to Melding and Quick Recovery, but you could also put them next in the sockets next to Instability and Devotion.

No reason, they just had 7% life and I didnt feel like buying new ones. You could easily get better

Hello,

I'm currently running this build as a base for mine in this league HC, just trying to figure out some feel changes to make it more "Safe". What can you say about the defense of the build?

Currently i'm testing Poachers Mark in the place of Flamability, givin up the damage to get some Life and Mana on Hit, and possibly not needing to go all the way to Vaal Pact, and getting more life and defenses around the way.

I never really played a Caster Character, aways more Armor or Evasion focused characters, usually bow builds, so this is kind new to me.

Well, anyway, it's a very fun build to play, i'm currently leveling it with Sire of Shards and it can get reallly fun, mostly on breaches in open maps hahahaha.

The main survivability of this build is its life pool and mana pool with MoM. With a basalt flask up and maybe even a granite flask it can withstand very large hits. My advice to you would be to not use poacher's mark, as it doesn't give much back and would instead use Enfeeble. Vaal Pact is great for survivability, and is why I made a point to get it in v2 of this build. Instead of dropping it, it would be better to not run anger so that you can have more mana for MoM to tank. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
