Are'nt totems boring?

@GGG we need cat ears, tail, power cord, antenna, water outlet or w/e for players to be convinced.
Everything I do should be wrong so please correct me if I do it right <3

As i skim through all the builds I'm seeing a sea of blade vortex and blade fall builds as usual.

But I'm also seeing totem builds everywhere.

I mean c'mon...

I use totems while leveling or for decoy etc, but to JUST use totems all the way into end game?

Do people actually enjoy totem builds? It's like you're not even playing... your totems are.

You can jump into packs and shoot fire balls out of your ass with so many cool builds... or you can choose to place some totems on a screen and hide.

Is the only reason people play them because they are safe and they can do more content with them (while being bored with the gameplay)? Or do people really enjoy them?

Serious question.

I only read the first page, but this really seems close minded. You still have to use the totems just like any other skill and you have to manually avoid damage. You aren't not playing the game. There is a lot involved. With that said, different totem builds are very different from each other. Back in the day when Dual Spork Totems was a thing, I thought the build was incredibly boring. Now, I am loving my Low Life Hierophant Totem build (credit to wabachaw). It's is the second most fun build I've played in this game in the three years or so that I've played it. I usually don't like any type of ranged character in any game. I find them very boring. I'd much rather be up in the stuff getting my face bashed in. But this build is too fun to put down.

On the other hand, as someone has already said, people enjoy different playstyles. Otherwise their wouldn't exist different playstyles. Play what you enjoy and others will do the same.

If your main argument is that a person isn't actually playing, that couldn't be further from accurate. Totems are actually way more engaging than a lot of other builds because of reasons I already stated. Blade Vortex, for example: Get 20 stacks and run through stuff watching everything fall down. According to your argument, you aren't playing the game, your blades are.

There are more videos of it on my YouTube.

Side note: Stating your opinion can be done in a less degrading, more constructive manner.

Edit: I had to throw this in there with your logic: Anything with a bow isn't playing the game either. Your arrows are.

As melee build ancestral warchief is absolute must on bosses. Totem that deals 20k dps is great. You can just put the totem and whirling blades around the boss.

Am I the only player in this game who is using Ancestral PROTECTOR?

My totems are simply flame totems. If I place them far away, they will kill everything before it ever appears on-screen. Old build, nerfed a little but still powerful DPS, and yes safe, but it's as safe as you want it to be. It's boring to put up totems and move slowly. Much more fun to put up totems and dart around the screen scouting while your totems dish out the DPS.

More likely, yes :(
It's still not too late to swap to the righteous skill instead.

The day GGG decided you can't call Totems with CWDT was the last day I ever used a Totem. If I have to expend energy and a keybound slot to cast a spell myself, there are 50 other spells I'd rather call than a semi-useless totem.

I play RF totem and Reversed Knockback shockwave totem. Both incredibly cheesy but both also incredibly fun to watch.

Also, manually cursing, positioning to lure enemies, tactical advance in dungeons, throwing EE-traps ... there's much to do if you want. Just that all youyourself do is support your totems.

Not a fan of totems normally, since they usually put me to sleep.

But siege ballista feels quite rewarding compared to most totems i played, the big ass shot's being fired, the numerous totems i can put out because of iron commander and still being able to deal damage myself if needed.

I wanted to make a tower wars character for PoE and this is what i came up with. Very satisfying to put 4 siege ballista's up on a ramp and watch the hordes charge at you while being poisoned/maimed/bleed to death.

And i use frenzy with pcoc myself so i still have to keep plenty bussy myself.

I reckon i am actually using a lot more buttons then a regular 1-2 build.

Peace,

Why would I change 20% attack speed to 14% melee damage and -10% attack speed?
Built-In AoE, Feels like Warchief have better targeting with their attacks versus Protector even with AoE Passives.
