[2.4] Ice Spear Theory Build
Just a small question. How do you want to swap a GMP for Controlled desctruction? When one is green and teh other is blue. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

" I don't see where he said that. Just in case for single target, switch to cold pen :) |

" You're right, I did say that, And the answer is two different chest armors. -- OK, Just got my Bitterdream at level 36 (just able to use it). It's a sign, this build was meant to be. |

Hi, i've always been wanting to try out an ice spear build but not understanding stats and all, would this build/theory build be reasonably safe to respec into given the theory-ness of it atm and the still uncertainties over gear etc? As in would there be any major flaws that could happen with this build or is it mostly laid out and stable? sorry if this sounds weird

" I've been working on it as we speak, and right now my largest concern is that the build is doing too much burst damage. I'm currently in the middle of cruel, and I'm one shotting unique mobs, without any offensive curses, and massive amounts of scaling to go. It's actually quite scary. Being a crit build, that means the build peaks late game. The higher your base damages, the more effective crit becomes. So I am actually "quite" concerned about oneshotting myself, but I'll still have to see how it goes, maybe it will tone down a bit, I am only in cruel. It's been a lot of fun so far, and I got stupidly lucky. I got one unique all normal playthrough, and it happened to be bitterdream, the best possible unique I could have gotten. If you're looking for a spec that guarantees end game potential, I'd probably stick with one of the 2.3 builds that's already been confirmed, such as pyre vortex, or even voltaxic spark. This build still has a lot of gauging left to do, but if you want some fun seeing some big damage, this seems to be fulfilling that so far, haha. |

Ok thanks, it sounds pretty awesome so gonna go off and try it now. I'm not super hardcore devoted into end game but something that would be amusing to play with decent damage and clear speed would be ideal, only problem i guess would be the reflect? In any case, sound like it would be much better than my now nerfed coc girl. Ty :)

Sorry, also forgot to ask, what are the preferences for gear? Like for rings, belts, etc. Or just prioritize life, resis etc on all of them?

" The build has enough damage baked into it so far. I would prioritize survivability, so the regular life/tri-res for armor and amulets. We don't have a good source of shock, so I've been running +lightning damage to spells and herald of thunder while leveling to get shock rolling as well. The build is fairly mana hungry, but it will be a long time before double blasphemy will be effective, so clarity + one defensive blasphemy (such as enfeeble or temp chains) until you hit high level blasphemy is a good idea, and will help with mana. The radius is too small at low levels to use offensive curses in blasphemy. You'll also find you'll need to grab a piece or two of gear with dex, and/or maybe one of the +30 dex nodes on your way past while leveling to support LMP/GMP while you level. Luckily there's an essence that guarantees dex on gear, so that's easy-peasy. For reference, my current passives: ![]() -- Note to self: Lioneye's vision may be an interesting unique, if we wanted to drop that far into the right to get pierce. That would give us 100% pierce without sacrificing a gem, but mana costs may be too prohibitive. Something to test.... Last edited by VapidActions#1355 on Sep 3, 2016, 5:44:04 AM
