I feel like stacking HP is the best way to go...

Investing in ES/Armor/Evasion bonuses seems pointless when they're so far below the bar that HP sets.
My duelist has 12000 armor self buffed and still gets hit by rares like a truck, I took passive armor nodes and so forth. Running a ranger with the same build but skipping armor nodes and damage nodes and i'm doing WAY better with the same gems and playstyle. How is it that HP is so much better than the other three? Is a nerf to HP nodes needed? Should HP bonuses be built into the passive nodes in the tree (in addition to primary stat some % of hp?) or should they flat out be removed? Has there been any mention of this problem so far? As it currently seems: HP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Evasion > Armor > ES Is the bottom line in all cases. |

It's NEVER one or the other.
But obviously HP will be always be the most important thing. Nothing to see here.

IMO, they should buff the other defenses a little bit, so they're actually useful at higher levels, but I don't think this is likely, and many players would probably revolt at the sign of a nerf to the game.
I don't think they will nerf HP without making any sort of change to the monsters, because the game would be nearly impossible to play at endgame unless you are doing X specific build. I think it might be possible that they'll nerf monster damage slightly, but buff their HP, to give incentive to pick up damage nodes instead of defense nodes. As of now, stacking HP (Or ES if you're going CI) is pretty much mandatory for any sort of late game or hardcore build, and I don't think that it's beneficial to the game, so It's likely that they're working on something to balance it out. First of all, maybe the life nodes could afford to be nerfed a bit. 8% is a lot.
Second, its not life OR evasion/armor. You need life AND damage mitigation to have a high effective HP. No one should be expecting to survive on armor or evasion alone. |

No. Every build i make uses no armor, evasion or energy shield, but survives purely on regen. I have been doing this for nearly a year now. ES, Eva and Arm are flat out not necessary. 1. The game will get easier and easier as more and more godly gear gets into circulation and also after desync is fixed. With the possible exception of melee, I don't think the game needs to be any easier.
2. No resists? and are you running around naked? Your gear has armor or evasion or energy shield. But to be clear energy shield is not damage mitigation, it's just another HP pool. |

It's not just stacking hp nodes that annoys me its having to have high hp rolls on everything you wear.

Lower all damage by 50%, nerf hp nodes by 70%, make evasion better.
