I feel like stacking HP is the best way to go...
" That's what Blizzard figured out and that's why they stayed away from skill trees in Diablo 3. The vast majority of the playerbase does not want build diversity anyway. Players will always look up the best builds on the internet and use that as opposed to trying to create their own. There is always going to be a "best" build that that's what most players will use. Now GGG could balance the skill tree so there are more viable builds, but it's always going to be a handful of builds amongs the millions of possibilities. The most significant aspect of this skill tree is never going to be build variety, it will always be to punish "noobs" or people who just want to try things by themselves instead of copying somebody else's build. |

its not OP its necessity, 90lvl player died few days ago to an alchemist fire bomb which did 4800 dmg to an 80% res char

" Although its true that its basically impossible to get pure build diversity, it is easily possible to get most builds working (in the case of PoE up until act 3 merciless at least). The current state is pretty much a joke in this regard |

I think they should let Armor reduce all damage except chaos, like in Diablo 3.
Even though i dont like Diablo 3 and its system, it would make sense here. Armor scales with damage, high damage = low reduction. If Armor would reduce all damage (physical + elemental), there would be NO increase in physical reduction but a nice (but still small) increase in elemental damage reduction. This would raise the All Resist Cap above 75%, but not very much. Maybe introduce a new MAXIMUM RESIST CAP at 85%. So your elemtal damage reduction can never get higher, even with elemental Adaption/Uniques/Auras/Armor and so on. Conclusion: Diamond Skin and elemental Adaption would no longer be a must have or you could be more choosy with your equipment/auras, Armor would become much better. Therefore you could work on making your physical reduction better, esspecially as melee character by using more evasion/dodge/ES/endurance charge passives than you normally would (or get a shield). As melee you could finally find a build without unwavering stance by getting some ES or "avoid Stun" Notes, therefore not waste your evason rating. Of course you could try to get all HP and All Armor now, but this would lead to almost ZERO DPS passives, therefore lack DPS. Evasion is already a very strong stat in my opinion, the only issue i see is that some special attacks cannot be evaded and of course AOE attacks (poison cloud...). Dont know a fix to that, but it creates an imbalance. And both the "Dodge" passives should be reworked in my opinion, they are pretty useless now, they will be more uselee in the near future i think. Im not sure if seperating Dodge and Evasion Rolls was/is such a good idea. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

" The vast majority of the playerbase, probably yes. But you have to think of how many questions there each day of "what is the best build", and some people say, "whatever you want" (which is what is should be), and some people just go copy player X. I am one of those in-between players. At first, I made a Templar, and used my own build, and had a great time... in normal. Then, when I got to level 44 (Cruel Act 1) and realized that my build, which was indeed "whatever I want", was complete trash, I decided to reroll. It was THEN that I looked up the builds of the top players. But I didn't do it because I wanted to. I did it because (and I'm by no means complaining) this game can be so goddamned hard if you don't build your character just right. And I didn't want to be stuck in Act 1 Cruel, while 'the vast majority' researched the few builds that are working well, and ran with them. |

" No thx... nn for braindead stuff like that. Sry if this sounds harsh but that is one of the most stupid things D3 came up with. Get hit too hard? Use armor! Get too much elemental dmg? Use armor! Got problem x? Use armor! Such a thing removes a) the necessity of any other defensive system and b) the difference of dmg types. Makes the game boring and braindead. It removes choice at all. NN to balance your build, just stack armor as it helps against everything. edit: " Door is that way, kthxbb --> [exit here] Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty! " What they didn't realize though is how boring the game is when you can level 1 of each class and never have to reroll. The end game of most games is boring as heck, just camping crap to get slightly better items is boring. It was boring in D2, it was boring in every MMORPG ever made and it was boring in D3. PoE keeps me around because it is fun to constantly reroll and try to perfect my character builds. Playing a fresh character and learning a new way to play will always be more fun than just camping the same junk over and over. The skill tree is very important even if it is extremely flawed in its current state. To be honest they should cut out about 300 of the skills as a starting point and then work on balancing what is left. |

Basic problem of the game: (In groups) Killing is never a problem, surviving is. Offensive always is a risk and most successful and copied build evolve around defensive (=health/loh/leech) powerhouses with minimal investing in offensive. The death penalty makes default builds (which could be more offensive in theory) = hardcore builds inevitable.
The skill tree allows experimentation until merciless. Then you need a sound plan and a lot of meta-knowledge. Before they change defenses themselves they should try to change the paradigm of 'damage comes by itself', for example steeper hp scaling in groups or more sophisticated shield/regen/healing mobs. |

A quick way to fix evasion would be to just lower the amount of hit mobs have (keep bosses/"hits accurately" mobs the same).
A quick way to fix armor would be to increase armor's efficiency against massive hits (instead of needing 12x the amount of damage dealt in order to have a liable DR, make it 9-10x, maybe add a "crushing blows" elite modifier that counters this). Not sure what to say about energy shield. |
