As far as i can recall the therm "meme" was first used in 2001 on a convention discussing sociology and communication.
A common example at that time was folding your toilet paper in a triangular shape if you used the toilet. Which originated somewhere in central europe and was found a year later in toilets in the amazon. It referred to a concept or action that moved beyond it's creator and starts leading a life of its own in the "hive-mind" due to the globalization of communication. I got no clue if that is still what the therm refers to nowadays though. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
