Nuro's harp needs to be buffed a bit

Yesterday I happened upon a Nuro's Harp while doing some midlevel mapping. I thought it would be a good choice for my Ice Shot Ranger and also a nice piece to her ensemble, complimenting the Asphyxia's Wrath quiver, changing that rusty-rugged and scaly look into something "frostier" looking.
I was wrong. Turns out Ice shot not goes that well with the bow.
My previous bow that I was using with the character is Infractem, which is a quite nice mid level bow.

Nuro's Harp is supposed to be an endgame bow if I'm not mistaken. At least that's what I gather from it being the highest level unique bow.
Yet, while with Infractem I have above 8K DPS on level 68, with Nuro's Harp I barely reach 3,8K at best. Now I know that DPS isn't everything, but this bow's other niche effects doesn't make up for how bad a DPS it has.
Granted that I have low roll Nuro, but I doubt a higher roll would make much difference.

Being a bow for ele rangers it quite sucks at it. For it to be better it would have to deal a (280-420 to 300-450) cold damage. That would make it on par with the rest of the crowd. Although I doubt GGG would do it. They're too afraid that it might be too OP. Granted that some idiot would surely find an exploitable way to create a broken "OP" build around the bow, like they did it with Voltaxic and the rest of the sheep would follow.
BUT that doesn't make my argument any less valid.

Well at lest the bow is good for skin. :)

The bow screams added cold instead of Physical Projectile.

Also as said before you can actually use any skills with it as it's an Elemental Bow. Actually I reckon I could be very strong with Elementalist using Blast Rain for extra 25% cold penetration.

When I created this char there were no Nuro's Harp.
Actually this character was one of the first few characters I created before the Sacrifice of the Vaal expansion. Then there was least a month hiatus, which means I haven't played PoE, not even casually, as now. So I kind of put that character on the shelf. Then When 2.0.0 hit I picked it up again and tried to continue as a mixture of phys+Ele bower. Since I haven't found a good enough bow for pure elemental build, ice damage in particular I was left with Infractem as a choice. All my other ele rangers have good enough uniques, Voltaxic and Chin Sol.

Besides back then ele damage was kind of weak.
I wish it was as powerful when arc was a big thing. My first ever character which I created in the closed beta in 2011 was a "lightening" witch. After PoE released in 2012 I continued that character from the start as all characters were wiped to give newcomers and everyone a fair chance without disadvantages.
Actually all of my first chars was some kind of elementalist. Then just before Sacrifice of the Vaal all ele chars experienced a somewhat big nerf and suddenly everyone went phys. There were a lot of fluctuations, but phys is still a bit better than ele and just a bit weaker than chaos and poison.
Good thing is I can still redo this char since I haven't used her tree reset yet, as I was playing end game and maps with my other much higher level chars.
Thing is I'm not sure if I want to, because the next reset is still months away and I don't want to waste all of my regrets on one char.
Also If I want to continue using ice shot, which I found is much fun, going all ele wouldn't be a good choice.
If there was an alternative to ice shot which used pure ele damage then there was no problem.
I think I remain using Infractem until I get tired of ice shot.

All bow skills (I may be wrong on this one)scale the base dmg in a global way so you can use ALL of them with an elemental bow because the physical conversion part of the skill doesn't matter. I have a pretty strong Voltaxic Poison build (yes even after the nerf it's still raping everything) and I can use any skill with it (but I obviously stick to LA for the convenience and extra shock).

this is 2016 you dont use elemental weapons for elemental builds . you use physical weapons and convert the physical damage to elemental so you scale from both elemental and physical

It should cast the consecrated ground on yourself instead of corpses to be somewhat useful.

Flat elemental added dmg are actually extremely strong (both on supports ,gear and jewels in the case of static Electricity) but it's not meta so people don't really care.

its not meta because its not good enough to matter.

why would i waste my time trying to get overpriced % elemental damage mods and + flat elemental damage mods when i can pretty much do the same or even better damage returns by looking just for mid range physical rolls and then using a physical weapon with almost twice the base physical damage dps?


You have to do so much to get elemental , pure elemental ,to come out even. everyone else has to do so little to do the same with physical weapons.

I have one of those too.

In fact Considering Witches, Rangers and Duelists I have one for each element. Obviously there is plus 1 witch for the chaos.
One of my favourites is my EK Scion though. I still havent reached 100 with any of my chars, despite playing for nearly 4 years and having almost all the gear I would ever need. Guess I'm too casual. My aforementioned EK Scion is level 90 though.
But it's really hard to level from self found map pool. The highest map I've ever grinded was tier 12 and it's already giving me less experience than I was hoping for.
I hope this new Atlas of Worlds will be an easier way to get more XP out of maps and level to 100.
It looks very Dungeon Siege-esque by the way. But that's a good thing! :)

Well, it's only 20 days to the free passive reset, so I might try the full ele before that and see how it works out.

So did you manage to put together a decent build for your Nuro Harp ? Ive seen a couple builds centered around that bow. Im currently building a ranger in essence and thinking I might stray a bit from the cookie cutter pathing that 95% of ranger builds use, probably going to pickup as many cold damage nodes on the tree as i can without getting too far off the standard pathing.That plus grabbing as much flat added cold on gear as i can along with a call of the brotherhood ring (once i can afford one) should make some icy explosion goodness :)

I have a Nuros in my bow hoarder collection in standard but havent tried to build around it yet I simply get all the bows i can and wait for someone smart to come up with a unique way to make them great, some are great out of the box per say and others need alot additional support. I think Nuros is the latter and might not need high dps numbers since your freezing everything.
