I love POE but I've watched the Lost Ark gameplay
" For me who can only play a few hours per week, one gripe I have for the temp leagues is that you have to level up your forsaken masters again. I played Prophesy for a while then I reached a point where I needed Vorici's crafting bench for additional sockets, bam! I don't have it. Then I read in the forums that the rep for them will not add to your standard, it will get the highest, I realized I was so slow in leveling them and I especially sucked at Vorici's missions, so no. I decided to continue my progression on standard, maybe someday I'd play temp leagues but for now I'm still enjoying standard. " Yup, and in my eyes Lost Ark is looking pretty sweet, except that maybe its pay-to-win which dampens that a bit but for a mostly solo player like me, don't really pvp, that will not matter as long as I enjoy my game progression and a paywall will not limit game content, which if the game is really good then I will have to pay. I don't mind paying as long as I'm entertained and enjoying the game, its reasonably priced and I can afford it. Filthy Casual Scrub. " Yup I also wonder about that, I played WoW before and the only difference I can see is that POE has a single isometric view while WoW has full 3D camera view, RNGesus is more prevalent in POE's items, and POE's world is more instanced while WoW is more of a persistent world. Some mechanics are different but I think that's what makes every other game unique. Beyond that its almost the same to me. Maybe because I considered WoW to be an upgraded and modernized D2, and I don't have a clue to the difference of an ARPG and an MMORPG, judging from WoW and POE looks the same to me besides those I already mentioned. " You saying a PoE clone but on a real game engine!? |
|
" Yeah, Cryengine. The graphics of PoE didn't bother me 4 years ago but now it isn't up to date anymore. Give a man a fish, and you can feed him for a day.
But give a fish a man, and you can feed it for a month. |

" " No thank you. |

1st rule in poe :forget melee.....unfortunately...(exept cyclone & EQ , but gotta like it)
have fun learning is a painful process ... knowledge is the most deadly weapon.

" there are huge differences between MMORPGs and ARPGS, WoW is absolutely nothing like D2. |

Lol
If WoW is nearly the same as PoE to you there is definately something wrong in your mind. Give a man a fish, and you can feed him for a day.
But give a fish a man, and you can feed it for a month. |

" Really?! that's a bummer since I love melee characters. My first WoW character was a tank warrior, then a rogue, then a huntard, plus a few chars of variations of the three, all leveled to cap and with full raid gears. I only did really play a caster with a warlock since it has fun dots and demon summons. Now that I think about it, is it the reason why I feel my melee builds are lacking somehow? I thought it was because I didn't get the attack speed nodes. I watched melee youtube videos and they rekt monster packs and bosses, maybe its the difference between my pathetic self found gears vs their uber expensive unique ones? really?! (feels sad) :( Filthy Casual Scrub.

" ok, please eleborate. i'm really interested to know what is the thing that makes them an arpg and an mmorpg, yup i've read that POE is an arpg and wow is an mmorpg, but i can't quite see what specicific element that makes one an arpg and the other an mmorpg. before (long time ago. lol) when d2, starcraft and warcraft was still my main game and there was no wow, d2 was an rpg and starcraft and warcraft are strategy games like the civ series, while cod and medal of honor was a first person shooter. then wow came and it was called an mmorpg, the difference from d2 is that it is mmo, but still rpg. then there was moba like dota and lol. then a card collection game like hearthstone. those games i certainly can tell the difference on why they are called as such, but between arpg and mmorpg, i'm kinda not sure. especially that ThePathOfExile mentioned earlier in the comments that Lost Ark is an mmorpg. its not the view right? cause Lost Ark looks arpg to me. and because i played wow at maximum distance. the rng and itemizing maybe? or that mmo's really have lots of people playing at the same time in one place? is it the graphics maybe? the tab targeting in mmos? or a specific mechanic that only an arpg has? or the basic looks? please elaborate i'm really curious, thanks in advance. :) Filthy Casual Scrub.
