[3.17] The Warchief | [Facebreaker] Ancestral Warchief | Uber Boss Farmer | Beginner -> Expert

How does Multiple Totems interact with Vaal Ancestral Warchief? Does it consume both charges with one use of the skill? And does the second summoned totem also get the +1 to maximum number of summoned totems, or will the second eat into our totem maximum since the skill was only used once?
Some more info on the Multi totems.

Gems level 16-17 - atoll map T1
swapping with Damage on Full Life

Without:
AW DPS: 47,127 - 2 totems
Vaal DPS: 47,600 - click twice to spawn both totems

With:
AW DPS: 24, 256 - 4 totems
Vaal DPS: 24,522 - click ONCE to spawn both totems

I think i am going to stick with the multi totem gem for a bit as it seems to work better... (i ran a 4 totem heiro last league so i may be biased)
Hi gugg,

May I have a quick health check on my guy...im working on my ring recipe armor chest now.
Unfortunately after doing some testing I'm not sure Multiple Totem Support makes sense to use with Vaal Ancestral Warchief as-is.

Currently if you have Multiple Totem Support linked to Vaal Ancestral Warchief, it will still consume 1 charge per totem summoned. You would never really want this to happen because a second active VAW does not receive the +1 to maximum number of totems, so it will kill one of your regular AWs to deploy itself. This seems to be true with or without MTS linked, but without MTS you are not forced to deploy both charges together. It's a single target damage loss to trade one AW for a second VAW since VAW's melee buff does not stack with a second totem deployed, and a VAW does less individual DPS than a regular AW. I.E. you would almost always prefer to have, say, 4 AWs + 1 VAW rather than 3 AWs + 2 VAWs.
I have question: do ancestral warchief totems makes mobs ignited if I use flammability curse ( manual cast )?

My point is that Vaal Ancestral Call only adds +1 to your maximum number of possible totems whether you summon 1 or 2. So for example if you have 2 base totems (just Ancestral Bond granting +1), and you use 2 charges of Vaal Ancestral Warchief, one of your base Ancestral Warchief totems will despawn to make room for the second Vaal Ancestral Warchief (i.e. you cannot go beyond 3 totems). This remains true even if Vaal Ancestral Warchief is linked to Multiple Totems Support - MST will take you from 2 to 4 totems, but nothing about the overall interaction with Vaal Ancestral Warchief changes.

Essentially MST penalizes Vaal Ancestral Warchief twice - first in the less damage modifier itself, and then a second time in forcing you to drop 2 VAW totems if you have 2 charges available, which will kill one of your regular Ancestral Warchief totems if all of them are already deployed (which will be a second DPS downgrade because 1 regular AW totem does more individual DPS than 1 VAW totem).

ah i see the point, maybe its a personal preference as always but overall i think multiple totem support is atm the best choice we have for overall good mapping and bossing if you switch the totem support with dmg on full life. if you realy want to max your dmg output into oblivion it may be a downer, but besides of that it should do anything ingame without problems with the multiple totem support too
