Of course you don't NEED to. But instead of just whining about something that is, why not start a productive discussion on what could be?

Some ideas?
You have to have some vision on what would be better?

omfg, how leleving is boring but maing isn't

leving got story and you enter different zones with differen monster.

In maps you run different zones that are copies of leveling zones, often you run 10 maps of the same layout in one go and monsteras are also different in every zone but they difference mean less and less as they are not tied to tileset and they are just filler for zone.

in leveling you change skills, level faster so yo ugain new power faster so gameplay change faster. In maps you just take +x damage or +x life nodes so gameplay is stagnated as hell. you also change items often that different gameplay in some part but in maps when you are 70+ chance that you will get unique that change game are equal almost to 0.

hack n slash i based on grinding for hours doing the same shit over and over and in endgame it is just more grinding to get level. How is this not boing but leveling is. WTF?

Oh and you got you account with veryhigh level in standard why you go to play prophecy if prophecies are going to push your 80+ character to lvl 65 leveling zone in act 1 that y uhate so much?

Chill brother, chill. You made it too personal and raging buffalo.

I go in phases. Sometimes like it. Sometimes hate it. I think thats why I've sat out a few ladders and just sit back and watch. I always hate re-leveling masters though.

Same here, leveling new characters continuously is insane. I deleted most characters when I discovered they're failed builds and just the thought to remake a new character again is already tiresome. Normally, I stopped for many months before I make a new character again. Though, the theory crafting is always the best. It makes my stomach goes butterfly.

Exiles, what do you think? Isn't it boring again again and again passing same areas for endgame? I tried to play prophecy and my patience limits broken after 30 lvl. After 2 years, i have zero alternative levelling way and im just playing other games while hoping for GGG's solutions.

Yeah, I've had enough. They really, really, REALLY need to come up with a retirement or mentoring system where you can delete on old character and get a new one started with a head start. Sorry, crawling through Normal for the Nth time is not fun.

Theorycrafting, item hunting, and challenging content are the point of the game - and it's a very good game. I rarely feel like crawling through a dozen hours of repetitive time wasting bullshit to get back there again, though.

Well there are alternative way to level.
You can use leveling uniques ...
And ask for a boost ...

Wonder if it's not intended to push players out of the game with such a leveling :D
Hf :)
What is always ignored during these discussions is that in PoE there exist hardcore leagues where the current three-tier difficulty system perfectly fits in. The game becoming gradually harder by unlocking a new harder difficulty mode. Old school but efficient.

In standard you only lose experience upon death. People just rush through the game as quickly as possible BECAUSE they can breeze through it. There is less of a challenge involved and therefore less of a sense of achievement. Guess that is the reason why it all feels like
drudgery to some.

I'm pretty sure most players including myself use leveling uniques. It's not rocket science.
If you think asking a boost from other players has fun value, well, I really don't know what to say.
The only thing I can think of that can make leveling fun is by playing with friends.
The emersion is real.

But what game is not fun playing with friends? Definitely some innovation needed here in PoE.
(not to anyone anyway. Elites always goes by the saying, IF I'M FINE WITH IT, ALL MUST BE FINE WITH IT).

The old school 3 difficulty with same content has been introduced in others arpg for a production cost problematic initialy.
I'm still astonished it became so popular and survived trought so many years. It's boring as hell.

I don't mind levelling as long as it's always new acts. what i HATE, HATE, HATE about PoE is the fact that I have to play through the same acts 3 times!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
