[guide] How to be unhappy in PoE and unpleasant in the forum

Oh, it certainly isn't a classical sandbox game. I just meant you could enjoy it more if you treated it as one and you do have a great variety of possible builds and goals to set yourself. And focusing more on what YOU want to do and YOU are enjoying instead of what the others are doing.

But enough seriousness for this thread. I didn't intend it to be entirely serious. Not sure what I intended exactly apart from offending everyone in the forum :P

I understand where you'er coming from. The story line and play is linear as most arpgs are but the variety of builds is a wide open sandbox of possibilities. Let's not concern ourselves in this thread about quality of a build or not, ignoring endgame viability just the variety of builds we can make in PoE is enough to keep us playing new skills forever.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Yeah i remember the internett cafes with games like that . i really didn't care for shotting games , only 1 shooting game was cool imo : fallout series.

Hmm, right, if you're referring to Fallout series as a shooting game it's no wonder you don't remember times when playing games was also a real-world social experience. It was no different then, players would argue over same things, who's better, who's more hardcore, which game is better. Except when you visit an arcade or console parlor you're withing hand's reach of the one you're arguing with, getting your head busted a few times develops your sense for polite argument quite rapidly.

You can probably notice that older players are usually more polite and reserved online, that isn't because age somehow brings wisdom, stick is just a very efficient personality modeling method.

:D

Yeah, nothing like the hands-down approach to beat some sense even in the thickest head. But it isn't just that - age also helps, at least some people. One tends to realize with time that trying to treat people well, developing a thicker skin and generally being polite is the best long-term strategy in the game of life.

You probably are right about being more "understanding" but it bugs me they are ( some ) disrespectful to noobs etc.

And how is the word 'noobs' respectful? :P

@Arrowneous: viability was a legitimate concern some patches ago, with the Awakening anything could be made to work reasonably well if you know how to build.
You have to be realistic about these things.

i am pretty old too , soon 40 .

Fallout is not like counter strike i know . It is a shooter game but not with pvp.

When i was young i was more into sports and played computer games more in the evening . Getting my head busted i know everything of lol , i was a boxer . But me as an real fighter had to learn to respect other people and not throw my fists auround for stupid reasons .
It's all too easy to find PoE faults and be unhappy (just live too far away Internet time wise from a PoE realm and not be able to use Lockstep. That would make anyone unhappy). Focus on your hatred of The Labyrinth (I like the Lab, I only hate over-uber Izaro for the 3 map levels he is placed in), or endgame gear or map starvation, or the bad trade system, or rng gambling that GGG passes off as "crafting", etc.

If you are so unhappy then why are you here at all? Life is too short to waste being unhappy in PoE. Time to move on if this is you.

Raics was referring to Fallout 1 and 2 which were isometric 2D RPGs. Not even close to shooters.
You have to be realistic about these things.

LOL. That was a good read Bars. Pretty spot on with most of the assertions haha!

I'd say very few, friend Bars, very few.

Of course, about that personality modeling, not saying any which way is clearly superior. Unrelated to games, you can notice that younger generations tend to be more assertive because of all that entitlement but lack patience. It's like building a starter char in an RPG, +1 to this, -1 to that, add background bonus to spice it up, but the stat pool total is the same.

I'd say the forum here is about average, there are much better and much, much worse. It has the usual assortment of elitists, bumbling moderators, Santa's little helpers, high-handed programmers, underhanded wannabes, village idiots, game balance and ancient weapon experts, former marines and MMA champs.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

yeah true .

About the "noob" thing is maybe a bad word to call a group of players if they are very very sensetive but its slang for being new in a game or unexperienced . I did not target a person calling him noob did i .

Well, let's not complain about rarity because increasing drop rates will depreciate the value and we'll complain about that, too.

As always, it depends on the person. Youthful enthusiasm may lead some to amazing achievements, but others to resounding failures. Resounding failures may traumatize some and make them bitter and diffident, while others will become wiser and stronger.

Hey! I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals!

@Devonor: no, the correct word is 'newb', abbreviated from 'newbie'. 'Noob' means someone who's bad at a game due to a lack of aptitude. You can be a veteran and still a noob. It is often used incorrectly for new players.
You have to be realistic about these things.
