Comments Disappearing from Reddit - GGG Has Nothing to do with Governance of /r/pathofexile
have no bad experience with reddit:
- i get comments to my posts directly into my inbox - responses are always to the point and have arguments - i have had devs answering my questions directly twice - the community there is at least as engaged in the game as the forum here (daily lab anyone?) - all the interesting stuff is there - i can see whole discussions without having to look for the "next button" 10 times - i can search a topic without having to click up to 350 times on the "next button" - people complaining about downvotes just didn't find the sort button yet ggg's forum engine is outdated as hell and i would be glad if it's dumped tomorrow for a more modern threaded version where one also can post ingame items. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I remember seeing a statistic about subreddits a year or so ago, and the PoE subreddit was the most downvoted subreddit of ALL subreddits at one point. I think it is the nature of the game to attract smart-ass know it alls, who don't accept other views of the game (people who basically think they invented PoE). It is also the reason why I play almost exclusively solo, that, and because I am a lonely old man.

" That's actually a very good reason not to play solo. You should find some mapping buddies, having company while you grind improves everything. The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again. " Actually I'm already annoyed by having one summoner playing along with me, let alone anyone with CoC build. What I find tends to happen in parties is that one guy has insane movement speed and is off in one corner of the map clearing trash, you and the two other guys are off in another corner. I guess this is less of a problem if you are in a guild or smt, but I prefer to play solo and listen to some music/podcast, while I contemplate the meaning of life. | |
That's not how you do it. You find a few solid chaps and party with them exclusively, using voice chat while you party so you can communicate and just banter and fool around. If you have a more relaxed and slow playstyle, you don't look for fastclear rushers - you look for other guys like you. The rushers are actually a minority as far as I know.
I never party with random people unless I absolutely have to, that's annoying as hell. The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again. Last edited by Bars on Apr 26, 2016, 6:51:44 AM

" Of course everyone does what they like, I'm just giving suggestions as I think the guy is missing out. If it's not his cup of tea, so be it. You don't grind maps seriously so your situation is a bit different. I can see he has a lot of decently high-level chars and plays HC, so grind away he does and having company helps a lot. " i personally tend to ignore attacks from random people on the internet on my person as it's not preventable and i think others should do the same because it just leads to people blaming each other endlessly for eventually being right. which nobody wants to read, really. it's rather important who attacks you and which arguments do they bring. there is a fitting saying in german: "was kümmert's die deutsche eiche wenn ein schwein sich an ihr reibt" which means: "a german oak doesn't care about the cattle rubbing on it". and even if one's feeling insulted, showing it publicly will feed the satisfaction of those whose purpose was to insult in the first place. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! " hahaha I like how it is specifically stated the oak is German, in case someone has doubts about its superiority :D The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again.

" it doesn't need poe.trade for that ;) " rare skill tree jewels could have prevented that easy copying of builds. but the affix specialisation of jewels wasn't consequent enough to have jewels redefine a build. additionally the introduction of unique jewels were the nails in the coffin for that concept. what a waste of a orb sink. " good point, community building 101 but they need to be careful to not losing the casual player base over getting the game as complicated as it can get. it still must be playable casually for a large part to get new players hooked. edit: to elaborate on my last comment puttin myself in the nationalist corner: the saying is just like that, i'm rather not proud being german (others may say that defines a german) seeing how we ruined the european idea because we horribly fail at world economics. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
