Because some monsters strike very hard. 4000 physical damage, you will end one shooted. Big skelly + totem aura crit + boss crit or phys damage mult... = You are wrecked if you do not dodge or eva. Also physical spells will kill you very fast. problem with double strike, you divide ignite by two :/

" This is a cool idea, but as you say has some pitfalls. Another thing is that it is hard to actually benefit from 'double dipping' using ele damage, since you can't use elemental focus. You'd have to stack ele dmg and fire dmg on the tree. the duration is 5.32 with the TGU. Decent for bosses but not for packs :/ with scorned, the duration is 2.7, it provides good burst. " Well, we could so something more tricky to get the full power out of this duration. Rapid decay! but it supports duration active skill gems only! Dominating blow or viper strike and static strike. Static strike! There is potential here. static strike allows shock with a crit setup because of the remaning physical converted to light while keeping the extra fire. It's not doable with tgs because everything is based of 100% damage with shared conversion, and here we are at 100+99% without shared conversion. It doesnt worth it, rapid decay is not that powerfull especially on a "small" ignite. In the other hand, rapid decay will help static strike, the "gap" between each aoe will be faster by 15% too. with rapid decay the duration is 4.52, and it grants 20-39% more dot. Viper strike is decent too, and we can link phys to lightning to it, so rapid decay + poison + burn + shock can work. Problem, 50% "less" physical damage = less poison damage, not effective, but 50% from shock is not bad for burning and more damage per hit means more poison damage. but wed is not effective on chaos damage! D: And to use ptl + extra fire damage without WED is not right, anyway ! Let's see viper strike rapid decay melee splash phys to lightning melee physical wed? Mult Strike/faster attack? Q_Q Let's just drop the burning idea because the sword has no potential for this? Wild strike is funnier to use, has an awesome clean speed, and do not need melee splash ;) with wild strike, you can shock chill burn at once. Plus you get a bigger burn because of the 50% fire random conversion, so the highest burning damage will be used. Shock will boost burn. Best skill gem ever. wild strike MPD MS? WED PTL? I really think perhaps you're all overfocusing on the IGNITE portion, specifically. Fire damage on the sword, plus added fire damage, is the only part I'm concerned with. Ignite is there, it's handy, but I don't expect to require it until the very late end game unless I massively mess up my passive tree.

Expensive impatience on my part. But eh, it's still a nice sword. So wurf IMO. You did a nice job designing them, man. Hopefully I can prove your time wasn't wasted soon enough.
