Why don't some people pick up currency or do the chaos/regal recipe?

Try and see for yourself. Record your xp per hour and income doing maps the normal way for some time, then try speed clearing and see if you prefer it. My main problem with speed clearing is that it's more straining to play that way. I'm not competing with anyone so I like to play a bit more relaxed. Apart from that, both XP per hour and income are much higher if you speed clear properly.

I watched a video which explains it rather nicely - imagine each map you clear is a spin of the roulette wheel. When you speed clear, you get more spins which means in the long run you'll get more high-value drops. Yes, the drop rate is low, but when you're doing 10 maps per hour instead of two or three, the difference in the long run is exponential.
You have to be realistic about these things.

It sounds like the difference would be linear, not exponential. If you're clearing 10 maps instead of 2-3, you're getting exp and items 4 times as fast. (Well, not items 4x as fast, since you leave a lot behind, but anyway...)

Also note that maps (like roulette wheels) cost currency to run. The slow method gets a higher return per map.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Nitpick accepted :)

- Players who want optimal xp income will care little for optimal currency income to begin with.

- You can count on players who achieve less average income than you to focus on the smaller currencies which you can buy off of them. Unless you're playing self found in which case you're probably playing a build that doesn't rely on acquiring hundreds of orbs before it can get going.

- Once everyone starts doing this (if that ever happens), the relative price of these orbs will go up, and it becomes worth picking more things up again.

Rares have the potential to be worth more, a chrome item is a ...chrome. 1/600th of an exalt.

Its Havoc's school of thought Vs Mors's

Havoc would rather run maps fast and be really selective about what he pick up where Mors like to clear maps and loot most things. Its just two different yet effective ways to play depending on personal preference.

So thats why i dont progress. I pick up everything.
Well, one day droped 3 ex, and one in my lvl 51 archer assassin magician.

Its also tiring picking up everything (that i still do), tp back from map sell, stash earned stuff and go back to do the same.
Ill try that tactic, to be more selective on drops. But chromes been really useful to me.

The time it takes you to pickup and sell 600 chrome items you could of easily amassed an exalt through larger orbs and it wont be nearly as tedious.

Well, if it is the orb and no an item ill pick it. Ill just save it in the first stash tab and put it in the right place later. Selling items nop. Also ive noticed that i can speed up the lvling.

I need a new loot filter.

Additionally, stop picking up wisdom scrolls and instead spend a chaos orb to buy 120-200 transmutes which sell for 4 wisdom scrolls each.
