SET FREE THE ASCENDANCY POINTS (or rework the lab) [New ascension methods/lab rework ideas]

Right. Meanwhile, in every other self-respecting game you can skip the tutorial. PoE would be a better game if those things were acc wide. The pre map at least.

I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

You know. It is curious.
The all new six acts, all hyped new content, and it all still be considered tutorial.

It's a bit of a mixed bag, the early ones are supposed to be tutorials and map trials are supposed to be a prerequisite so having them solved would be a nice advantage over those that don't have them. So yeah, maybe just the pre-map ones.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I don't get this what do you mean?

What kind of asshole bumps this thread when the devs have so much on their plate atm?

I haven't gotten to the labyrinth yet. I have done a couple trials and it reminded me how boring and not fun the trap gauntlets are. So the trial tutorials are accomplishing their intended purpose. :-)
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

So trials are exactly the same, just fewer? No change?
Did you have fun completing normal and cruel lab?

(duplicate post from website giving error "resource does not exist")
All that and a bag of chips!

Quick note that while Normal and Cruel labs are "easier" due to the length (and at that level the extra hits aren't a big deal), Merciless lab is harder due to the 3.0 boss life buff. Much harder, actually. So while GGG toned down Normal/Cruel lab, they buffed Merc+ in inadvertently with the boss health boost.

I personally loathe doing Merc lab even more now because the fight lasts 2-3x as long.

The fact GGG addressed Normal and Cruel labs shows they acknowledge there's an issue with it, but they didn't address the core of the issue, which is: the majority of players simply hate the lab mechanic and concept. It's utter garbage. A bad mechanic that is ruining this fantastic game. Even top streamers run the lab "out of obligation" and less than 1% of all players ever run Uber lab.

I love 3.0 and the new content, but the lab continues to be the absolute worst feature in this game. And it's even worse now with Merc+.

This thread will continue to grow until GGG does something about the real problem with the Lab (which is that it's a shitty/bad/rotten mechanic) and its requirement to secure ascendancy points.

Remember, folks. It took more than 4 years for them to fix Volatile (the #1 complained about insta-killing feature of the game). Keeping that in the game in its original form was such a special kind of stupid; players' heads still spin today as to why it took them so long to fix such an obvious design flaw.

The lab is the same way. When (I hope to god) it's truly "fixed" players will look back and say "it took them way too long to fix that shit that everyone knows was a problem."
All that and a bag of chips!

I'd forgotten that the doubling of boss life would make merc lab more of a "trial." I like the Izaro fight, but too much of a good thing is definitely possible.

I agree with you that lab will be hated until it stops being a gate for ascendancy, at which point some will run it because they enjoy lab (there are some who do), while others ignore it. A key challenge with getting to that point is that, perhaps unlike volatiles, lab was the pet project of somebody high up in GGG that got pushed on players.

If you look beyond POE to see where are ARPGs in development headed, others seem to be aware that GGG screwed up with lab. You can find a kind of homage to the passive tree in Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem (but even more interesting, as it's a multi-tiered wheel with each tier able to spin, potentially making more builds possible). But I don't believe any other ARPG is copying lab, and so it seems likely to remain solely as GGG's odd little foray into gating character progression behind a platform mini-game.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
