Perandus chest locked, 0 monsters remain.

It happened to me like this: I was fighting Voll and monsters from Perandus chest came into the fight (chest was off screen). When Voll died, all Perandus monsters died at once, as all mobs around Voll at the moment of his death. But chest remained locked. I had to walk away a few screens, then come back and Perandus monsters suddenly started coming out of chest again and after I killed them, chest opened. So chest produced two packs of monsters. Apparently they have to be killed in some certain distance from chest, but since they were killed by Voll's death, I couldnt fulfill this condition. Seems like a bug to me.
But gosh, that can't be right, Dunedain1014 and HarukaTeno were very adamant that there was no bug and that everything was working as intended. I mean they provide numerous examples of flawed logic and were very polite about presenting their side of the story with such considered phrases as:

"Wallow in your own ignorance and continue to fail."

"But I also have a brain and know how to use it."

"Just because you don't like the mechanics of the chests, doesn't mean it's a bug."

It is said that revenge is best served cold, but I'm happy to serve your humble pie warmed up if you would like :)

Now, let's get back to looting Pendarus chests instead of posting in the forums!

Note that it doesn't say "fixed mechanics", "changed mechanics" or similar.
They fixed cases of 'not opening correctly'.
As always, GGG's vague description without specific explanations.

Note that i never said "i am the ultimate truth" and "it is working as intended" but tried to help and explain the most suitable and reasonable mechanics. While most of you just screamed like a whiny girl "IT'S A BUUUUUUG!".

The point was, that players claimed, the non opening of the boxes was a BUG, and not part of any kind of mechanic, and now, with the last patch, GGG FIXES this bug. Noone was crying, just posting and inform about this.

You and Dunedain have stated all the time, sometimes more, sometimes less mannered but everytime from the high horse that its an intended mechanic.

You tried to help by imaginations and supposings 'bout nonsense mechanics without any knowledge?
In this way, I really can pass on such help.

The funny thing is that there are still bug reports AFTER the patch. Check the first page in bug reports.

I have to proof nothing (and I'm, surprise, not an GGG employee, you and Dunedain are the pseudo staffis here) - that the issue is a bug, was clearly for me if you look on the behaviour of the chests pre and after patch and its official confirmed in the 2.1.1c patch notes.

You and other argued with LoS, mechanical issues and stuff that you simply pulled out of your ass.

The bug-issue posters where whiners for you and you only tried to help, as you stated in your last post. But you just wanted to annoy people and to be justified with your opinion, at all costs. Meanwhile, its just ridicoulus.

So the answer? It should have been fixed with 2.2.1c, but as we see, it still seems to appear rarely for some ppl - maybe it needs another hotfix.
( For me, it never appeared before 2.1.1 and never again until yet after 2.1.1c )

Fixed. You fixing whats broken. Patch. Bug. See?!

As you see i got no deeper answer to some kind of mechanics at all( and that simple confirm for me, there is none intended mechanic which limits the chance to open them, only a bug behaviour), feel free to Email them yourself to confirm your point if you want.

Happened to me 2 times today....
Happened just now, for me as well...
Happened on Docks Normal, 2 chests spawned right next to each other. I killed all mobs except one. The one remaining got revived about 20 times ( i wasn't counting) and then half the mobs disappeared as if one of the chests unlocked. But both remained locked. Using a witch minion build with magma orb for support. This happened twice before today but I thought it was an isolated bug. Looked it up on forums and got here. Apparently there was a patch for this but it is still happening. And they aren't even very far from the chest so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the proximity theory that I saw people talking about on here.

2 chests on same screen
Killed mobs away from chests because they were tough (like 3 rares at once tough)
Only one chest opened
